Looking for family of Gideon Flynt

I am looking for information on my gg grandfather Gideon FLINT (occasionally spelled FLYNT). He was born 4 Jul [some records say Jan] 1811, place and parents unknown. He married Harriette THOMAS 12 Mar 1834 in Monroe County, MS. She was the daughter of George Richard THOMAS and Syntha RICHARDSON. Gideon and Harriette had eight children, among them Dr. Abijah B. FLINT (a prominent Civil War surgeon), Sirena FLINT, and my great grandmother, Parthenia FLINT.
Gideon has been one of my huge brick walls. He seems to have appeared from nowhere although I have found a Gideon FLINT in Connecticut who (by his birth and death dates) could have been my Gideon's father. Unfortunately, they didn't list spouse or children's names at that time. Gideon was shot and killed in the Sabine River in Texas in March 1847. All of the information I have about him leads me to believe he was quite a scoundrel, but since he's my gg grandfather, I'll take him as he was. Makes my family all the more interesting.
William T. Flynt buried in Salem Cemetery, NC

On my visit to NC, I found William T. Flynt b: 28 Jul 1859. d: 07 Aug 1944. On same stone is Mary E. Wicker Flynt b: 12 Apr 1862 d: 14 Jun 1946. (Just a note: They said that they are buried on the Solomon lot, so they are probly related to the Solomons.) I am wondering if this is the William who's father is Richard S. Flynt and mother is Malinda Walker. On the 1880 census for Forsyth County, Middle fork township, which reads; R.S. Flynt age 51, Malinda age 43,
William T. Flynt age 20, Mary W. age 17, Charles E. (my great-grandfather) age 12, Minnie V. age 9, and Cicero F. age 4. There is another child, Martha, which lists her in the same household in the 1870 census, in 1880 she would have been 23 years old. Please let me know if any of this information relates to your family line. I am now tying to obtain a death certicicate on Charles Edward Flynt to verify his parents names. Thank you, Kathy

Painter and Inventor CHESTER DANA FLYNT

i would like to learn more about CHESTER DANA FLYNT, an artist who traveled from town to town as a portrait painter and inventor of the universal automatic lubricating pads for trains which are still in use today. a painting of his entitled "the good samaritan" was presented to the sons of temperence wyoming division in wilkes barre, PA.

he married CAROLINE YOHE (cousin of hope diamond possessor, MAY YOHE) on 7/13/1842. CAROLINE and her sister MARY were orphaned while very, very young and inherited land on what used to be the diamond ridge coal mines, which was later sold to a cousin by the name of JAMES FITZSIMMONS. i believe she died in 1889, and CHESTER in 1898 in PA.

the couple raised 7 children:

1) HELLEN NELL 7/2/1843 (married LANGEN?, wealthy in St. Louis or NY)
2 ANNA MILLISSA (married SAMUEL HOGG (HALL)
3 WM. STERLING 2/9/1851
4) JAMES E. 10/20/1853
5) MILTON B.
6) CARRIE (married a BROMHEAD)
7) ED (major in confederate army)

Can you fill in any gaps? my mother is a professional, nationally-exhibited award-winning painter whose artistic talents seemingly evanesced out of nowhere, so it would be interesting to hear if CHESTER's relatives came from an artistic vein.

thank you for your help!
Obit: Jim D. Flynt

Albuquerque Journal - April 5, 2003

Jim D. Flynt (Buddy) Born in Albuquerque September 18, 1949, called home by God April 2, 2003. Jim passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident April 1, 2003. Our beloved Jim was the first son of Mary E. and Jim F. Flynt. Jim joined the USAF in 1968 and was a decorated veteran of the Viet Nam war serving as an airborne communications intercept operator gathering vital enemy intelligence and targeting information. After honorable discharge from the AF he returned home to his beloved NM where he attended Albuquerque TVI and graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.0 in electronics. He went to work in the electronics field but became involved in union politics on the side of the underdogs which cost him his career in that field. He then embarked on a number of startup companies the last of which is Estancia Valley Mobile Homes, LLC. He was very active in the East Mountain Communities working to provide affordable housing alternatives to low income families. Jim was very much a people person and was completely at home with everyone from the average person on the street to the former Governor of NM Bruce King. Jim was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather and the sun rose and set on his son, daughters and grand babies. Jim is survived by his wife loving wife Annie , daughter's Kathleen and partner Steve Drake, Shelley and son Matthew. Grandchildren: Kathleen's children Kylene Flynt, Kayla Flynt and Brandon Drake and Matthew's son Tyler Flynt. Parents Jim F. and Mary E. Flynt, sister's Gerry Brooks, Jeanne Kubiak, Peggy Dumas and Mary Sue Flynt, brother Ken Flynt , his nephews and nieces that loved him. Many aunts, uncles and family, also surviving Jim his best friend from childhood Robert Chall and wife Robin and close friend Lee Hardwick. A memorial at the Moriarty Civic Center will be held at 10:00 am and a Graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park at 2:00 Monday, April 7, 2003 in Albuquerque.
i am seeking any information available on Joseph H. Flynt
who married Susan Walton on 1-22-1880 in Gonzales, TX.
They had a son, Cal. That is all the information I
have. Hopefully, someone can fill in the blanks regarding
parents of both Joseph and Susan and their children.
I will be going off-line late friday afternoon, 6-9-00
so i would request any information prior to that time.
I don't know when I will be back on line.
Thanks for your assistance.
Walt Russell
