Mary Jane Foisie Rowland

I'm looking for more information on the family and ancestors of Mary Jane Foisie (b. abt. 1849) of Grey County, Ontario. Married Richard Rowland in 1867. I believe her father was named Lewis Foisie (b. abt. 1830) of Quebec and her mother was named Mary, family name unknown. Any information about the origin of the Foisie family, meaning of the name, portraits or sketches, etc... would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Louisella Comette-Foisie

A relative of mine in Seattle has done extensive research into at least our branch of the Foisie clan. All originated in Canada, moving down into the US across the northern states, many settling in New England before moving to the west coast. I seem to remember mention of a branch of the family that came through Michigan that ended up in Louisiana. The spelling FOISIE is generally believed to be distintive (FOISY being the more common spelling) and likely ties back to common ancesters of the 19th century in Canada. There is for example a somewhat famous Catholic Church figure in Canada, Brother Andre, who is related to my family tree and could be a source of information to begin your research. Let me know what you are looking to find out. I have a relative in the Seattle area who has done extensive research. If you respond I can forward your request to her.

Louisella Comette-Foisie

I would like to get informations on the descendants of Louisella Comette-Foisie (or Foisy?) she was born in 1861 in St-Michel de Napierville, Qc, but grew up in St-Venant-de-Herefor (Paquetteville) in Compton county, Qc. She was the daughter of Blaise Comette and Maria Vanchestein. She might had got married in USA?? Possibly in Vermont between 1884 and 1890 while her family lived in Winooski.<br>Any information concerning her and her family would be appreciated. She was my great-aunt. I am making the Comette's family tree.
