Hi Melva,

I would like to help you but I will need a bit more detail. What was your dad's middle name? You say your grandmother's maiden name was Bolse. Do you know her given name and the name of her husband? How about places and dates? Any detail you could provide might be the crucial piece that enables me to make the connection. Understand we Folsoms are a prolific bunch. My database exceeds 60,000 names.
In the introduction of "Genealogy of the Folsom Family, 1638-1938" there is a picture of a memorial to John Folsom and Mary Gilman. The caption says "Folsom Memorial At junction of High Street and Kensington Road, Exeter, N.H.".

I go to Exeter from time to time and would like to go see it (assuming it is still there). But as far as I can tell High Street does not cross Kensington Road. A friend to lives in Exeter didn't know where that might be either. Maybe the roads have changed since that book was published.

Does anyone know how to find that memorial?

David Woods
He states 30 April 1807 that he will be preparing to remove from here to Elk River (in Tennessee) the last of June or first of July. As soon as convenient after leaving my stock there I will visit you and close my accounts while in public service, which I expect will be that last under Thomas Jefferson. Mention of Thomas Love and Col. Henly .
But subsequently became a Whig and a firm
supporter of the Declaration of Independence. In 1774m he made a treaty with
the Cherokees and in 1775 he made another treaty with the Cherokees and
others by which all their claims in Kentucky and part of Tennessee were
extinguished. He had at one time a free simple right for nearly all the
whole state of Kentucky.

William Henderson was a man of trust and was appointed a General to command
the state troops of South Carolina and bore a conspicuous part in that hand
fought Battle of Eutaw Springs in the Revolutionary War also the Corpens and
Guilford.

John Henderson lived and died in Union District, South Carolina.
Thomas Henderson died in North Carolina.
Nathaniel Henderson died in Hawkins County Tennessee.

Pleasant Henderson January 8, 1756, Died December 1842 at Huntington,
Carroll Count, Tenn, later Chapel Hill, N.C. He was a native of Cranville
Co., NC for many years of Rockingham, then of Chapel Hill, and finally of the
county where he died. Coming of age about the beginning of the American
Revolution he was much involved in the stirring scenes that ensued. He bore
the commissions first of Sergeant, then of Lieut.then of Major in General
Greene's army and was accounted a brave man and a very efficient officer. He
ws an officer in command of the troops that guarded the Commissioners who ran
the dividing line between Tenn. and Ky in the year of 1779. This was a duty
of great peril as nearly the whole extent was occupied by hostile savages.
He was a companion and friend of Daniel Boone in many of his adventures and
enterprises in the early settlement of Ky, and at one time was deeply
interested as a land holder in that state and Tennessee. His elder brother ,
Richard Henderson had at one time a fee simple right for nearly the whole
state of Kentucky which was commissioned by the"Henderson Reserves" and was
finally lost to his heirs by some kind of legal chicanery. Pleasant
Henderson was the private secretary of Alex Martin, forever governor of North
Carolina and for nearly thirty years, Chief Clerk of the House of Commons of
that state. These several positions as well as his long residence at
University of Chapel Hill made him extensively acquainted with the
distinguished men of that and other states, by whom he was much admired and
respected.
He was the only man I ever knew of whom I never heard evil spoken, says a
writer in the Salisbury Watchman, his gentlemanly manner , dignified
deportment, patient temper and kind heart won him friends in all classes:
conceit, presumption and selfishness were strangers to his nature. Candor,
integrity were its perfect identity. In the many conflicts between the
students of the College and Civil Authority , his insight of character and
knowledge of business were often thrown in successfully to make peace and
often he has been the medium of intercession with the College authorities,
and procured the restoration of delinquents. Many times has his purse and
table afforded the means of education to young men who had some adverse
change in affairs was about to draw home. All these things are too well
known in NC to be forgotten soon. In fact, says the writer, I never knew a
man so kindly inquired after in all parts of the state as the subject of
these remarks At Chapel Hill among his old friends and neighbors, the
memory of his virtues and worth will long be green and flourishing. "Good man
farewell. I knew thee long, I knew thee well, nor scarce observed one fault"

Elizabeth Henderson married John Bukham of SC.

(Bottom of Pg. 7)

(Top of Pg. 8)
Samuel Henderson who died in Franklin City, Tenn. was born in NC.
I think I new your grandfather. James Cannon Folsom of Alabama was the President of the Folsom Family Association of America and hosted the 1977 Folsom Family Reunion along with his brother. If I remember correctly his brother's name is William.

I am in Florida at the present time so I cannot check all my information.

The 1977 reunion was the first reunion I ever attended.
This year The Folsom Family Association of America is celebrating their 100th Anniversary. The reunion headquarters is in Dover, NH and we will be making a trip to Exeter, NH to the church where the very first reunion was held. We will be placeing a wreath at the monument of John and Mary Folsom the first Folsom's in America.

The Folsom Family has a website folsomfamily.org where you can find all about the Association, see pictures of past reunions, get the information for the current reunion and even get a registeration form to attend in a few more weeks.

We are always welcoming new members to the FFA and annual membership is only 15.00. All membership information and membership forms are also available on this website.

If your grandfather is this James Cannon Folsom later in life he married Barbara Foster Lawler and she was my father's first cousin.

I live near Cleveland, Ohio and my sister and I hosted the 2001 Folsom Family reunion.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Dolores Folsom Selleck

After I sent you my message I remembered your granfather's brother's name was Walter. As far as I know he is still living in AL.

I don't know what information the Folsom Family of America has for Jim but if you contact go to the Folsom Family website folsomfamily.org you can contact Harry Folsom and he might be able to print out the information on your family at least as much as Jim would have provided.

Since Jim was President of our Association I would assume that he would have provided as much information on his family as possible.

Hope someday you would be able to attend one of our reunions. We have them all over the country. We had one in San Diego a few years ago and that was the last time I saw your grandfather.

All Folsoms in America are considered cousins so therefore I am signing this message. Cousin, Dolores

Someone told me she had passed away shortly after my Father died.
I received all my information on my Father's side of the family from Harry Folsom of the Folsom family geneology. his email address is on this site I believe. There is so much that it would be hard to send it all.Harry sends it all if you send him Dad's name, he is very good.My Mother has given me enough information to get me started. Dad's Father and Mother were Charles and Katherine Stockford
Folsom and they lived in Monticello, Maine and raised their family there.Dad's brothers and sisters have all passed away as far as I know.I hope this will help you get started, it is a lot of fun once you get into it.How many siblings do you have? Is your Mother name Tonya? Like I said I hope this helps you get started. Connie

Wow,

I did not think I would hear from you that quick. My last name is Richardson (born McIntosh though) my mother Pat remarried when I was 7 years old. Gladys Channell, my grandmother married Frank Williams my grandfather. Gladys was born in 1906 and just passed away in 2003. Her mother Maud Folsom died when I was only 1, and she is buried in Sebastopol. We have visited her often, even still.

I have great pictures of Jincy, Maud and Emma Folsom. They are very old, but I will scan them and email them. My email is frank-psi@sbcglobal.net

My Grandfather Frank died in 1983 in Tracy CA at 83 years old. We were very close.

My mother Pat Williams passed away last year after a long battle with cancer. Her oldest son Dale lives in Reno Nv, her daughter Holly lives in Florida, and I live in the bay area.

I would love to know who your husband's parents are. Please email, I will send some great pictures.

Re: Choctaw sisters

I am very interested in your information. I am only 1/32 Choctaw through my father's side of the family. I have had my CDIB card for years but this summer I officially became a member of the Choctaw tribe. I feel very honored. My ggg grandmother was Salina Folsom married to Robert D Bell. Over the summer I went to Oklahoma City and they helped me research the Folsoms. I found that Salina's dad was Edmund Folsom son of Watt Folsom (1787-1878) I traced the Folsoms back to the 1600s. I can't seem to find much on Salina and Robert Bell though. I know Salina died in about 1884. I don't know anything about Robert D Bell. Do you have any info on Watt, Edmund, or Salina that could help me?

Christa
My great grandfather was Lincoln Dow Folsom Sr, married to Helen Catoria Boring. Their oldest child, Clara Folsom Pruett is my grandmother. When the Folsoms moved to Gooding Idaho around 1914, Clara was married to Charles Pruett and stayed in Tescott Kansas. I have a lot of pictures and information I would share.
