Re: Tracing the Folson roots!

My name is Kofi Folson. I live in London in the United Kingdom. I come from Ghana in West Africa. I dont know where my parents got the Folson from. But certainly there is a Large Folson in Ghana, the UK and the USA who are very much related. I know most of the Folson family came from a small town called Elmina in Ghana which is on the Coast in Ghana. I guess from History the name could have resulted in the 19th century where there was some Danish and British people living in that time during the period of slave trade and the colonial rule in Ghana. I am not too sure if the real name was Folsom or Folson. But certainly it looks like there is a number of Folson's out there. I only typed into google today and found all you lot on the search from Folson. Hook up somebody. cheers!

CINDY FOLSON'S

In regards to Cindy Folson's message, are there any other Folson's out there, my name is Lauren Folson, I live in Arizona, my father is from an Indian reservation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, as I understand it, our last name came from my grandfather Earl Folson, his orginal name was Earl Two Two, for some reason, I think it was to join the military, he then changed his last name to Folson, and later had several sons, I have lots of cousins by the last name of Folson. So it's kinda interesting when I hear of others with the same last name. I don't know why grandpa chose Folson as a last name, thats the only part I don't know about. The people I could ask, relatives of my father are dying, my uncle died in November 1999, Alban Folson. He might have known why grandpa chose that last name. Anyway, have fun looking.

Cindy: Please try for Folsom information. This is the Folsom Family Association and the site has very good info. Lots of the Folsoms were related to the Choctaw Indians - maybe you'll find your family there. If not, there seems to be a huge interest in the name Folsoms are scattered all over. Good hunting, Barbara.
Tracing the Folson roots!

Greetings:
Anybody out there by the surname, Folson. I would like to gather some history on the name. My African-American Folson roots are in and around the middle Georgia area. The truth is, we go by the name of Folsom; however, it's been said that the original name is Folson, so I thought I'd try my luck at tracing the Folson's. So, if there are any Folson's out there who are familiar with the name, let's talk. The only names I know are John B. Folson or Magnolia Folson (she later married a Brownlee) and spent the later years of her life around the Detroit, MI area.
