In researching my CLIFF family, I found an older lady, Mary FONDON, living in the household of Horatio CLIFF and his wife, Mary in the 1860 Census of Painesville, Lake Co., Ohio. All 3 adults were born in England. Horatio was christened in Gringey on the ahill, Nottigham, England in 1818. Horatio and Mary were maried in Montreal, Canada in 1837, but we don't know her surname. We wonder if Mary FONDON might have been her mother. In 1870, the CLIFF family had moved to Bay City Township, Bay Co., Michigan and in 1880 they were living in Pinconning township, Bay Co., Michigan. Mary Fondon was only with them in 1860. Does anyone know about this Mary Fondon? Did she have a daughter named Mary who married Horatio CLIFF? Thanks for any help!
