Hello,
The following is from the book .....
Descendants of Mordecai Cooke of Mordecai's Mount, Gloucester Co., Va., 1650, and Thomas Booth of Ware Neck, Gloucester Co., Va., 1685 by William Carter Stubbs (1923), 319 pgs.
From pages 265-266
The following Register has been adapted from the original Bible of Rev. James Maury Fontaine, now in possession of his great grandson Francis Fontaine Wiatt, to whom we are indebted for this transcript.
From page 267
Caroline Carter Fontaine, (ante), born 1785, died 1855, of yellow fever, married John R. Wiatt, of Boxley eldest son of Thomas Wiatt who married (July 2nd, 1785), Catherine Robinson. Thomas Wiatt was son of John Wiatt Jr., died 1795, Vestry of Petsworth 1775, son of Capt. Thomas Sr., Vestry of Petsworth 1753, son of Conquest Wiatt, died 1707.
I do not think the information on page 267 is correct concerning Capt Thomas Wiatt (Capt Thomas is not in this line) but I cannot prove it at this time.
Anyway, the Rev James Maury Fontaine (of the Huguenot Fontaines) was my 4th great-grandfather. Francis Fontaine Wiatt was a 1st cousin to my great-grandfather, Edgar Fontaine Wiatt. (Anyone else descended from these Fontaines ?)
I am checking with my cousins that I can reach, but I doubt if they have the original bible or a set of transcripts.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of this bible or does anyone have an accurate transcript of this bible ?
Thank you,
William E. Wyatt
