Greetings from Tralee, SW Ireland.
We are trying to find descendants of Nicholas Johnston Ryal (or Ryall) 1847- ?, a baby born the famous Irish emigrant barque "Jeanie Johnston" on the ship's maiden voyage to Quebec in April, 1847. His parents - Daniel and Margaret Ryal (nee Foran or Forhan) from Tralee - to mark the unusual surroundings of his birthcalled him Nicholas Johnston after the owner of the ship Nicholas Donovan) and the ship itself (the Jeanie Johnston) .
This famous ship is now being re-built in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland by young people from Ireland, North and South, and will make her Millennium Voyage to North America in April, 2000 visiting 23 US and Canadian cities.
It would be wonderful if we could make contact with descendants of this famous passenger.
Previous reserach has uncovered relatives of his mother's familiy (the Forhans or Forans) in the Benton Harbor area of Michigan.
Many thanks for your help.
