Here's one other piece of info, a reference to the will of a Peter Forby in the obscure court of the Dean and Chapter of Norwich. Don't know if this is the same Peter Forby mentioned in connection with the Howletts of N.
Hi, Thanks so much for this information, I do appreciate you taking the time to send it and I may well be relevant later on. Since I made my initial post I have managed to find some further information on my FORBY line. Peter's wife was Rebecca GALLANT and they married 31st March 1812 in Beeston. Peter was the son of John FORBY and Susanna CHILVERS and was born 1787 in Great Dunham. I will keep your information on file in case I can use it later on....you never know where those branches are going to lead you next, and Peter does not seem to be a common christian name around this time frame.

This might be of some help later on:
Peter HOWLETT of North Tuddenham, Norf. (bp. 1588) left a will in1660 (ANF), leaving his lands in N. Tuddenham to his grandson Peter FORBEY. Peter Forbey was a son of Peter Howlett's daughter, Dorothy (bp. 1615) who mar. in Elsing 4 Feb. 1635/6 Hillary Forbey or FORBY, who came from Ashill. Their elder children were bp. in Ashill, but I have not found Peter's baptism.

Hello. I am not working on the family geneology at the moment so it's all a bit hazy, however, as I recall, Frances Forby was sister to Carl Thomas Weisse, Senior, who was married to my grandmother, Minnie Irene (nee) Campbell, Does that ring a bell? If so, let me know and I'll see what information I can find out for you from my family members. If not, let me look again and see if I'm confused right now. I know my mother has been looking for Frances for awhile in order to find out more about Carl. My father's name was Carl Thomas Weise (misspelled from Weisse), Jr. Does that ring a bell? Thanks.

Janalyn

Unfortunately, I did not know that much information about my father before he died other than where and when he was born. Which is the sole purpose of why I'm trying to locate some of his relatives. I know he was born in the TN area and came to CA sometime around the late 1930s or so. What I was primarily wondering is if your Robert P. Forby is somehow related (possible father) to my dad, Robert E. Forby (born Sep 7, 1894)? He was also of American Native and African American decent, if this information is pertinent to either of our quests.

Forby used for FAUBION

Two people that have contacted me about the Forby genealogy did not realize that Forby is Faubion. No one knows why but if you have Forbys, as these two friends of mine did..take the first name but use Faubion as the last name when looking. I found both of their linages on Family Tree Maker in the home pages..there the nice man that posted all the info on the Faubions talks about Forby being used with or in place of the Faubion name. Of course this is not true with all Forbys..but for the ones in TN, VA, IL and such. Again..I am looking for Joe Forby and Mary Ann Getts both born in VA..had a daughter named Susan Faubion who married Adam Campbell in Green county TN. Her death certificate states FORBY for her fathers name..yet her name on her marriage license is FAUBION.

Tracy Estepp

Deb,

I wanted to write to you to tell you that I found three african american Forby men in the green county TN census...at the time I was looking for them I did not think to write them down. I also remember a little more info there, names and dates and such ..but dear I did not at that time write it down either. Mine are not african american but there must be some kind of a connection because Forby is not a commen name and I did find that its another name for FAUBION. There is a little info out there and the next time I see it I will write it down and send it too you..

Ronnie,

FOr some reason..Forby is a way of spelling Faubion..or Forby is considered Faubion..I found a reference to that on the web.
