Just this week a Ford cousin in Denver CO found a paper containing a transcription made back in the 1950s of a cemetery monument. Unfortunately he does not recall where he was at the time, but does know his mother took him on many trips to Maryland and eastern Virginia in search of her Ford ancestors.

Below is the monument transcription which, due to its size, was probably on a large monument with multiple sides. If anyone recognizes this, we would be most appreciative to learn of its location plus any more information that can be gained about RICHARD Ford, his wife PRISCILLA Ford, and daughter, ELEANOR (ELINOR?) FORD. Thank you.

Our ancestor, Henry Ford, is known to have died in 1782 near the fort at Hagerstown while in Patriot Service during the American Rev War - he was scalped by Indians along with his brother-in-law, Mr. Harlen (Harlin? Harland?). Their widows, Rachel Gillen (Gilliland?) Ford with her 7 young children and Mary Ford Harlen with her 5 young children, sucessfully raised their families afterward at a location known as "Ford's Bend" near Hagerstown. We are seeking to learn the identities of Henry Ford's parents.

In respect to his memory this monument was erected by Priscilla Ford his widow. // Here also lieth the body of Eleanor (Elinor?) eldest daughter of the said Richard Ford who died the 14th of February 1732 in the 37th year of her age. // And likewise the body of Priscilla the affectionate widow of Ald.
