Daughters of Thomas & Esther Fording

Surnames: Fording, Clippinger
Can anyone shed light on a matter that is confusing me. I find an Olivia Fording married to an Emanual Clippinger and then I also find an Esther Fording married to Emanual Clippinger. Were these ladies sisters and one pass away and he married her sister? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
