Edward (abt 1832) and Sallie (abt 1831) lived in the Greens Cut area of Burke County. Per the 1870 census, there were only about three Foreman families listed. Sometimes after 1880 Sallie moved with her younger children to Alachua County (Gainesville), Florida. The older, adult offspring remained in Burke County. Jo Ann Foreman (abt 1852), my gggrandmother, married Gus Sapp and resided in the Alexander area. One of her daughters, Hattie (abt 1873, my ggrandmother), married Sonnie Roberson an resided in Munnerlyn.

Foreman's of Texas and Louisiana

I am searching for Foreman who married my great grandmother, Mary Mouton (possibly Mary Josephine Corinne Mouton) around 1905 to 1914 in Louisiana or Texas. I know they met in Louisiana but my grandfather, Joseph Clarence Foreman who was born in Sulphur Louisiana Mar 7, 1914 ended up in San Angelo, Texas. I have heard two conflicting stories about the missing Foreman. One is of divorce and the other of an untimely death soon after Joseph Clarence was born. In any case, I haven't been able to find evidence of either. HELP! Not one living person in my immediate family has ever been told where the other half of our family is or who they are. Much appreciated

Dawn Foreman

Hello! Actually FOREMAN is a very common name. I have found quite a few that were somehow connected with the Cherokee Nation either part of or descended from those who were part of the relocation known as "The Trail of Tears"

I am not related to any of those Foremans as far as I can tell. My Foreman family is from Ohio. Yours?

Regards,
Dave

John, I have been shaking my family tree on the Niagara Peninsula. {1797-1895]My ancestor Anne (Anna)Byer (Buires, Byers,Boyer etc) petitioned for a Crown Grant in 1797 as a settler. In October 1800 she sold 200 acres to her son, John Boyer. This land is in Willoughby Township on the River (Concession 8)Boyer Creek flows through there. I have abstracted the will of John Boyer of Willoughby (1839). His daughter Susanna (Anna Foreman) is mentioned there. The way in which he provided for her is interesting.I have learned that the Boyer farm was a stopping place for Mennonites migrating from Pennsylvania to Canada. This is documented to have occurred during 1817. A daughter, Esther married Joseph Willick, a deacon in the Mennonite Church. Their home was noted for its hospitality.I would be interested in exchanging information about our ancestors. Sincerely, David Byer

You may contact me directly via mudala1@gmail.com or by telephone at 507-289-6224.
Pictures of gravestones on Peter and Anna are of interest.
I was born near Hamlin, Kansas on 7 SEP 1942. In 1957 my parents, my siblings and I visited a number of cousins on the Niagara Peninsula and in the area of Markham Township in York County. I was suprised at the number of cousins! Now I am amazed at the number of unkown cousins. John, the son of John Boyer, moved to Markham. In March 1884 he and his wife Lydia accompanied his son John Henry Byer (my great grandfather)to Hamlin Township, Brown County Kansas USA. The Kansas cousins appear to have maintained contact with the Canadian cousins in the Miller,Sherk, Lee,Willick, Neff, and Foreman families at least until the death of John Byer in 1895. I would like to send an abstract of the 1831 will of John Byer of Willoughy, but haven't been able to attach if in this setting. If I have your e-mail address I could then send it to you.
Hi Sarah,

I'm trying to piece some Foreman's together, too. Sounds like you've done a lot of work here. I have a Levi Foreman born about 1811 Ohio and married in Harrison County in 1836 Elizabeth Amanda Jones b. 1818 OH. The later moved to Vinton County by 1850 where a daughter, Sarah, married Robert Wilson who is a possible ancestor of mine.

I've read online that some say that Levi's father was a William Foreman but I cannot verify it.

Later, the Wilson children borne out of the Robert Wilson and Sarah Foreman marriage move to Paulding County Ohio where an Andrew Jackson Foreman is living next door. I've traced this AJ Foreman back to Perry County in 1850 and suspect that this AJ Foreman is also the son of another Andrew Foreman from MD. Wonder if there is a connection of this Andrew to my Levi. Thoughts?

Rick Wilson
rwilson7@aol.com

Hi,

I would be very interested in talking to you about the Foreman's you have being born/from Meigs County Ohio. My Wilson ancestors moved from Harrison/Tuscarawas Counties down to Meigs and some appear to have been associated with Foremans that moved from Harrison to Vinton County.

Rick Wilson
rwilson7@aol.com

Hi Lyn,

I'm very interested in talking with you about this Andrew Jackson Foreman line. I found this AJ Foreman living next door to some possible Wilson ancestors of mine in Paulding County Ohio in 1870. I then traced him back to Fairfield County (Rush Creek) in 1860 and then Perry County (Jackson Twp) in 1850 (mispelled Toormon in Ancestry 1850). Living next door in 1850 is a John & Susannah Miller who are probably AJ Foreman's wife's, Lydia, parents. From these census readings, it appears that AJ Foreman might have had brothers named Daniel, Samuel, and George. Also, it would seem that AJ Foreman's parents are Andrew & Rachel Foreman from Maryland (see 1850 census).

The reason they are of interest to me is that living next to AJ Foreman in 1870 Paulding is a James & Isabella Wilson who's grandson is found living with another Wilson family of interest to me. This other Wilson family is a grandson of Robert Wilson and Sarah Foreman who married in Vinton County Ohio in 1856. Sarah is the daughter of Levi Foreman and Elizabeth Amanda Jones. Prior to moving to Vinton County Levi Foreman lived for a time in Harrison County Ohio and Meigs County Ohio where my direct Wilson family also spent time, hence my interest in this other Wilson family.

Maybe since this posting you found additional information on AJ Foreman and know more about his and his family's movements prior to 1850?

Thanks,

Rick Wilson
rwilson7@aol.com

Hi Pat,

I'm not connected to the Foreman family, but they appeared to travel alongside other members of my Wilson family.

I know you responded to a message from Andrew Jackson Foreman in Paulding County Ohio, and you mentioned the Irving surname.

I have a Wilson ancestor who married a Foreman and then moved to Pualding. A Robert Wilson married Sarah Foreman in Vinton County OH in 1856. Sarah was the daughter of Levi Foreman who came from Harrison County OH prior to Vinton. Robert & Sarah's son, Levi Wilson, moved to Paulding County by 1900. Why I bring this up to you is that there was a Joseph Irving Wilson that is somehow related to this Levi Wilson but more importantly this Joseph Irving Wilson was living next door to Andrew Jackson Foreman in Paulding county in 1870. So I'm not sure if there is an Irving connection you were looking for but does any of the names or locations sound familiar to you?

Rick (rwilson7@aol.com)

At this time I cannot say if your Foremans are related to my line. The names Aaron, Isaac and Amos do appear in the family. Aaron was my ggggrandfather who settled in Missouri. He was a brother to Mary who married Samuel Evans.
As far as I know, researchers have not learned what happened to Amos and Isaac who were in Hampshire County, VA, now WVA about the Rev. war period. Some of that family did go to Ohio and probably on to other states from there.
Also, descendants of the original ancestors in New Jersey migrated to the western states. I don't have info. on them.
Good hunting,
M. Blackburn

I have an ancestor, Aaron Foreman, who was suppose to have haf a brother, Mose. They lived in Virginia during the Revolution. Could that be your family? I can't find anything before my GGrfather Isaac Foreman, born about 1825 in Ohio and died in Oklahoma. He referred to himself as a "Halfbreed Delaware", married Eliza Smart in Indiana and had eleven children. He had a brother, Jeremiah who married
Eliza's sister. Mary Smart, in Indiana.

It would be so great if I could find them. I've been looking a long time. I would be happy share what I have.

Billie Schuller
Hi Kellie, you can contact me on rdharris@fwi.net.au and I'll send you what I have on the descendants of Frederick John Hurst and Eliza Dorothea Doherty.
It's mostly from SA BDM indexes and internet research but hopefully has something of interest.
Happy researching, Robert Harris.

Rick,

Interestingly, I married a Wilson. His family grew up in Western Maryland.

Sadly however, I have been unable to track the Foreman family back before AJ Foreman with ANY specificity. Currently my mother has all the Foreman information I gathered. My mom now lives in Ohio and is closer to the needed resources. Alot of sweat and tears in that research just to get what little I had.

I am sorry I cannot help you any further with the Foreman family.
I am related to some Foreman's that moved to Lamar county Texas from Alabama.

My Great Great Grandmother was Rebecca Jane Foreman born about 1880s, died between 1916-1920. She was married to a James David McClellan.

Rebecca's father was James H Foreman, and his brother was Isaac William Foreman. I do not know who their father was but their mother was Mary J. Both James and Isaac were born in Alabama, but lived in Itawamba, Mississippi with their mother in the 1860s with a John Taylor and an Elizabeth Johnson. They later moved to Alabama, and stayed there for a while. Rebecca's siblings and her family moved to Lamar Texas in the 1910s. Rebecca's family moved back to Alabama, but her siblings
John W. Foreman B. abt 1875 d. 1930 in Lamar Texas

James Robert (bob) Foreman B. abt 1879 d. 1920 in Lamar Texas

Walter Franklin Foreman b. abt 1889 d.1961 Lamar Texas

Jessie L. Foreman (Hulvey) b 1891 d.??? 1930 showed she lived in Lamar Texas

Martha Elizabeth Foreman b 1894. d???? 1910 census showed she lived in Lamar Texas with her brother Walter, unable to find her in the 1920

Any information about any of these foremans will be helpful.

My main goal is to find the father to James H. and Isaac William Foreman.

James H. Foreman b. about 1853. Died in 1908 in Lamar Texas, buried in McDonald Cemetery

Isaac William Foreman b about 1851 died after 1930.
1930 census shows him living in Lamar Texas

I have a public tree, so if you search you can find out the foreman's I am related to. Too many to list.

Thank you
Do you have any records of a Foreman marrying someone with the first name Mary J.?

I am looking for the father of my g g g g grandfather James H Foreman, married to an Elizabeth Williams. His brother was Isaac William Foreman, married to a Mary Williams. Their mother was Mary J. Foreman (last name given in the 1860s census). Mary J. was living with a Taylor and an Elizabeth Johnson(possibly her mother).

They lived in Itawamaba Mississippi, Franklin County Alabama, later some of the children of James and Elizabeth moved to Lamar Texas.

Any help would be great. Thank you

also she died somewhere between 1916-1930. I have yet to find Rebecca and James in the 1920 census. But in the 1930 census, James is listed as a widow. Their youngest daughter Mamie was 14 making her born about 1916.

Re: Anna (Boyer) Foreman

Hi David
Good to hear from you. Hopefully I can be of some help and fill in a few gaps from the Foreman perspective.
My gggrandfather Peter Foreman married Anna (Beyer) (other spellings are possible). The Foreman family is German dating back as far as Peter's father Francis whose German name was Franz Fuhrman. He was from Mannheim Township Lancaster County Pennsylvania and he and his wife Esther Gebel emigrated to Canada and settled in Bertie Township coming across the border presumably in the area of Buffalo/Fort Erie. They settled in Bertie Township and had four children. The two boys were Jacob and Peter.... Peter being my ancestor. I've corresponded with a fellow in the U.S. who's related to Jacob. I'm of the impression that there aren't many "Peter relatives" around. I guess that part of the Foreman family is a bit "Procreatively Challenged". My father had one sister who was childless. My mother was an only child as am I and my son and, so far, my grandson.
Peter and Anna moved to Rainham Township in Haldimand county where they farmed for many years. My ggrandfather John and his first wife Catherine are buried with his parents as are my grandparents and parents.... all in the same plot in a little Union Cemetery in a village called Sweet's Corners. I can get pictures of the gravestones of Peter and Anna if that would be of interest to you. I have a copy of Francis' will and it shows a deep devotion to his faith. I'm not surprised that there are very deep religious convictions in our family. My paternal grandmother was of German descent as well but of Lutheran persuasion. My grandfather was more comfortable, I believe, with a more simple approach... hence the movement of both of his sisters to the Brethren in Christ faith which is very much a "Mennonite" type of approach to belief.

Where are you writing from David? Are you close to my "neck of the woods" or are you further afield? Let me know if I can be of further help to you! Maybe we'll have more to share with each other. Good luck in your continued search to better understand where you come from!!!!
John
