THOMAS FOREN DESCENDANTS

I am trying to compile a complete list of all the descendants of Confederate American Civil War veteran Thomas Foren who served on the CSS Shenandoah, who are now living in Australia and New Zealand. If anyone could provide me with the names, city and state in which any of these descendants live it would be greatly appreciated. Charles Robert Foren was my uncle. He was a younger brother of my father, Garlan David Foren. There were several more siblings,all are now deceased. Charles Robert Foren's parents were Mollie Ofa Neal Foren and King David Foren. All were from Bradford, TN, Gibson County. "Robert", as he was called by his family, was dearly loved and missed. It was especially hard on his mother "Ofa". He was never forgotten.

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Gibson County, Tennessee as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: CHARLES ROBERT FOREN
Born: December 17, 1931, Caucasian
Date of loss: November 28, 1950, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Foren family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

My g.g.grandmother was Sarah Tennesse Foren [she went by Tennessee or Tennie], from Bradford, Gibson Co., TN. I am trying to connect with other Foren's from the Gibson and Weakley Co., TN area. Are your family from this area?

WOW! It was so wonderful seeing your post!! I have Foren's from Bradford TN also!! You are the first person I have found that is tracing Foren's from this area. I would dearly love to exchange some info with you. My ancestor is Sarah Tennessee [ she went by Tennessee or Tennie] Foren Davis. Her father was Alexander Foren and her mother was Sarah Stiller Foren. Sarah Tennessee Foren Davis was my g.g. grandmother, and she died in the early 1900's. her mother was pheobe Brackett .As far as i can tell John's father was james of dublin Ireland and his mother was Mary middlemus. any help anyone can give will be greatly appricated.

Thanks for that. It is in my case "Foren" from Tennessee. Before that I think Ireland/Scotland. Would love to know the origin of the name and the deep ancestry.

Yes, my father is from Skull Bones, which I believe is in Gibson County. He was born in 1903 to William (james?) and Icie Dora Foren. I am eager to learn more about the family he grew up in. I know he had a brother named Cecil Foren, but that is about all the information i have. Seems like your relatives would be related somehow.

I have been searching for Tennessee ancestry for my father who was a Foren. there is a whole line of Forens there. Not sure if there is a connection with the name in other states, but it is interesting to try to trace it.

Margaret Foren b.~1810, son John b.~1840 & his wife Johanna b. ~1838 living in Stillwater,NY as of 1870 with William Burns and his wife Mary(Foren?- Margaret is listed as Mom-in-law) Burns, all born in Ireland. John and Johanna had a daughter Julia b.~1870 in NY. I find the Foren named spelled Forehan/Fordron, but mainly Foren. Does this look familiar to anyone? Thanks, Jen

James was born in Nova Scotia Jun, 1851, his dad the same, his mom Maine.
James' wife Martha C. was born Nova Scotia Oct 1857, her dad Scotland, her mom Nova Scotia.
James came to US 1867, Martha in 1872. They were in Lincoln Co, WA by 1889.

I have been interested in doing research on the Cribby name. Not sure where to start though. I live in Maine, and there are several cribbys here, most of which I have no contact with.

Hi-just saw your message when I was looking up Middlemus...we have some names in common...Have a James Foran from County Kildare, Ireland..was thought to be married to Mary Middlemus,yet we find her maiden name in the Irish records to be Murphy. Now this James did have a son John who married a Margaret Mary Hayes. Do you have a year of entry, etc for your John? and any other documentation that may help? What states are you dealing with?
