I purchased some books on eBay and they have the hand-written name in one: "Retta Gaye Protzman, Sept 25, 1921". I googled her, and see that she was married in 1934 to Willey Gale Forman. I googled him and see that you are looking for his descendents.. Could he be your father? then perhaps Retta was your mother?
