I do believe we've hit gold! My grandfather, Abraham, was also a carpenter and had brothers in the hotel business in the Catskills. I havn't been able to find out anything prior to their arrival in U.S. I do know they came through the UK and I was under the impression that they might have lived there for a while. I often wonder if Forman was anglicized there from an earlier Russian name. He had four children, Harry (my father), Cele (Sylvia), Murray (Morris) and Jane (Sophie) They were all long lived (80's and 90's) except Cele who died in her forties of a brain tumor. I generally lost track of the family after my teens, since my parents were divorced. I did track down my uncle and aunt in later years. My father did not get along with his family. My mother was not Jewish, nor am I. I don't know if you are keeping a family tree but you can go onto My Heritage and see the Gardner family site which lists all I know about the Formans.
