Hi there

my name is Michael Forry, I live in Melbourne Australia. My family come from Achill Isle Co. Mayo. I found the most speedy way to get verifiable background is to contact the Irish genealogy project office. All you need is birth and death dates (if you have them !) of your grandparents or other close relative and they will research parish records for you. They do a lovely family history book at a very reasonable price. Makes a great birthday present !

The email address is normayo@iol.ie

All the best

Michael

Dolores,

Thank you for responding to my posting. The reference you gave me is the best Forry source I’ve ever used.

Although I’m a long way from working all the way through it, it is obvious that your 3rd great grandfather, Calvin Forry was a brother of my wife’s great grandmother, Catherine Forry. Would you be interested of Catherine's descent down to our grandchildren?

Is it possible that you might have photos of Catherine, Calvin, their parents or spouses.

If so, would you be willing to share them. I have photos of Catherine’s son, Jacob Foster Dock and all generations to date.

Thank you,

Frank Campbell
Yorba Linda, CA

There is a Furry Family History online (www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4265/indexfur.html) which at least has my family line correct starting with John and Esther Zerbey Forry. Their son, Calvin, is my third great grandfather. It is confusing to read but about the last chapter it talks of decendants of Michael Forry, son of Johannes Forrer who was granted land in Berks county Oct 11, 1744. If I read properly, the line goes:
Johannes Forrer
Michael
John
John 1805 who married Esther. Thanks, Dolores

If my information is correct, Charles Forry was born Nov. 15, 1857 in Silver Creek Township (near Freeport), Illinois. I have information about the Forry line back to about 1500 in Switzerland and Germany, but I don't have anything else about Charles Forry's descendants. Charles also had a brother, George who moved to California as well. I show Rhoda Clarissa as being born June 14, 1891 in Stephenson County Illinois in or near Freeport. I am descended from James A. Forry, Charles Forry's younger brother. Hope that this helps.

I am researching Rhoda Clarissa Forry (b Illinois 1892), daughter of Charles Forry and Margaret Baymiller. Rhoda married Percy (or Perry) Watson (b Illinois abt 1891, son of Benjamin Watson and Carrie Young). Rhoda and Perry (Percy) Watson lived in Gridley, Butte County, California according to the 1930 census and 1948 according to an obituary. They had one child that I know of, Jack F. Watson (b 1913, Alameda County, California). Rhoda's husband was my grandfather's cousin. My grandfather was Kenneth William Watson (b 1901 in South Dakota). I have information about the Watson family in South Dakota, Illinois, New York state and generations back to Massachusetts in the 1820s. I am lacking information about the Watson family in California.

Johannes Fuerher - Forry immigrant

There is a website on the Furry family. Check http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4265/indexfur.html I had an original copy from a second cousin but saw this on the internet and it is the same information I have. From this information my descent goes:

Johannes Fuerher (whom I believe may have come from New York with the Zerbes and Meisers, other relatives of mine and I assume of yours). 2nd generation is Michael Forry, who was a captain in the pa militia during the Revolutionary War. 3rd generation is John Forry dob 16 May 1765; 4th generation would be John Forry dob 25 March 1805 who was married to Esther Zerbe dob 20 November 1814.

5th generation for me is Calvin Forry who married Alice Daubert. 6th generation is Robert Forry who married Ella Shadle. 7th generation is Lillian Ferry who married George Hawkins. 8th generation is George R Hawkins who married Helen Bauer. I am the 9th generation, Dolores Hawkins, who married Davidson Whitaker. Hope this helps. Maybe your father knows something about the Dauberts.

Dear Mabel,
It is so nice to hear from you, the Forry picnic is always in September usually the 2nd or 3rd Sunday, this year it was at the Elizabethtown Borough park in Pavillion 2, there were about 150 people there, the pavillion was not large enough for everyone, Albert and Ruth (Smith) Forry, Jim and Edna Forry were there, and your Aunt Stella was there too, 79 years old, she seemed to have enjoyed herself, did you know she is in Heather BAnk Home in Columbia, Grover brought her it was so nice of him.
My dad is doing pretty good for his age, but then he isn't real old either. My Mom died in February 1992 from liver cancer, it was a long 3 year battle with the disease, the funeral service was beautiful, she had it all planned out before she died. Dad got remarried in 1994, to one of Moms best friends and she is a really nice person, would do anything for you if she can.
Please E-mail me your address and I can send you a copy of our side of the family for the Abel Book. Goodnight, Susan E. Forry-Kotzatoski

HI Mabel,
You probably don't remember me, your father and my grandfather were brothers, my grandfather was Arthur S. Forry, my father is Arthur A. Forry. Diana Miller and I have been working on the genealogy for about two years and are stumped at Henry and Barbara (Engle) Forry, can't seem to find anything. So far I have a listing of 603 Forry's descended from John and Sophia Forry, would love to share with you if are willing. Susie

I also am looking to fill in some gaps in my history. I have some info on a Mary Ellen Forry (or Mary Elise) b 10 Nov. 1855 in Silver Creek, Illinois (near Freeport). Parents were Abraham and Elizabeth Forry (both born abt 1806) in Lower Windsor Township, PA. The family moved to Silver Creek, Illinois (near Freeport) in about 1854. Abraham married his second wife Catherine between 1849 and 1853. Abraham had between 14 and 17 children with his 2 wives. I believe it is possible that your Mary Ellen Forry was the sister to my GGrandfather James Forry, the youngest of the children. I would like to share any other info that I have that might be relavent and any additional info that you have.

This record is at the York County Archives and can be accessed online at
http://www.york-county.org/cgi-bin/marriage.cgi

The main website for the York County Archives is
http://www.york-county.org/departments/archives/archavailabl... There you will find all the information available when you visit the archives and alot of it is now available online.
Click on the "HOME" at the bottom of the page to get to their email address and times and rates. They are very prompt about sending copies. On the marriage application you will probably find the parents of Flora Craumer, her age, place of residence, occupation.
I also have a source in the 1930 York County, Pennsylvania census at Hellam Twp., Enumeration dist. 34, visit 175, family 179. Good luck, Glenda
