Henry Forson Kentucky 1880 Cenus

I have found 2 Henry Forson's in Ashland, KY for the 1880 cenus and both came from the same area in Minden, Germany (Minden is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the capital of the district of Minden-Lübbecke.) My grandfather was born in 1851 the other Henry was born in 1841. From all I gather the one born in 1841 and his family moved away from the Ashland, KY area sometime after this cenus. Not sure but thinking Missouri?

My great grandfather was Caspar Henry Vahrson changed to Forson was married to Mary (I don't know her surname I think she arrived on the same ship as Caspar in Baltimore)(she supposedly immigrated from Hamburg, Germany she was his first wife they had 4 children) he then married a woman named Celeste Miller and adopted her 2 children Clyde & Naomi. Whereas the other Henry had 8 children 4 boys 4 girls his wife's name was Sophia I can find nothing about this family of Forson or what happened to them. Your help would be appreciated.
My step-father (deceased) was William Rance Forson, from Dublin, Erath, TX. I think he probably owned a house there in the 1950-60's. He married my mother, Peggy Hancock Traweek, in 1962. He has several daughters, all by different wives; one of whom is my sister, Peggy Suona Forson Justice. Her email is Suonajustice@aol.com. I know she would love to her from kin. I was in contact with Pat Adkinson several years ago, and have what Forson family info she could give. I do have some additional info on Rance's family. His mother was Sudie Belle Herod, father William Glen Forson, sister Virginia. Will be glad to send you what I have, if you would like.
Debbie Traweek Durham

Shirley...My greatgrandfather was Wiley G. Forson. His son Oscar was my grandfather's brother. My grandfather is John Thomas Forson, born 1896 in Robertson County, TX. Migrated to Carter Cty OK with his older brother Oscar and family. Married my grandmother Essie Mae Smith of Georgia and settled in Overbrook, Love Cty, OK to raise his family of 10. Their daughter Mary G. Forson was my mother. Overbrook is right on the Carter Cty line. I have the census where my grandfather was living with his older brother Oscar as a young man. Let's share information. Please write soon. Pat Adkison
Hi, Linda, sorry for the delay in answering. I do have some information on Susan Forgay.
I have William Forson est. 1760 married 1784 to Unknown, had Thomas, Mary, Elizabeth and William J. Forson.

William J. Forson b.1797 NC m. Rebecca Grooms b. ca 1804, dau. of Wiley G. Grooms.

Their son, Wiley G. Forson Sr, b. ca 1820 Washington Cty, GA, d. She was born Nov. 19, 1833 in Mississippi, d. April 8, 1912 in Greenville, Plumas, CA. Buried in Greenville Cemetery. Her father was James Forgay and her mother was Elizabeth Brown. Susan Forgay's first husband was ? Floyd..married abt. 1860.

Wiley G. Forson and Susan Forgay had two children:

1)Edward Green Forson, July 4, 1867 Franklin, Robertson Cty, TX. Maried Florence Capitola Banta on July 4 1893.
Hi:
My name is Deborah Forson Harter. I have always thought that the name "Forson" was fairly remote until I ran across this message board because my great-great-grandfather changed our name to this after coming to America from Germany. He settled in Ashland, Kentucky with his brothers. I know very little about the family except back to my ancestor George W. Forson. If anyone would be able to help me to trace back further it would be very much appreciated as my grandfather Richard was killed in WWII when my father was ten years old.
Thanks in advance,
Deb

Yes, some of the Forson family moved to Erath Cty. In fact, a cousin Jerry Forson and his wife Judi have traveled to Erath Cty to visit the old Forson homeplace there. I can put you in touch with them, if you would like. It definitely sounds like there's a connection. I'll email you their email address. Pat

My grandfather was James Fate Keeney b 1868 died 1930 in Erath Co. Texas. We never knew who his parents were. When I started researching I was told his mother was Sarah Forgay who would be a sister of Susan Forgay Floyd Forson. I am trying to see if anyone might have any information on any of Susan's Family. I do know that W.H. Forgay (Susan's brother) was in Erath Co. abt 1879 and died and is buried in Erath Co. My grandfather Keeney moved to Erath Co. in abt 1900 from Ellis Co. I found where purchased land in Ellis co. 1893 and sold it in 1899. I can't find any record or information where he was prior to that. Some said that they thought his mother died abt 1897 can't find where. I know the Keeneys are related to the Henderson, Defoor, McDowell, Pierce family from Erath Co. and was thought that the Forson family was some cousin. That's why I think the Forson, Forgay, Keeney have a connection. I see where a Forson owned land in Erath Co. I knew this would be a long shot but I just can't seem to find his parents. He had three sisters and they all died before 1940. I can't find where the Defoor died or is buried. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. I thought maybe someone said something in the past about Erath Co. or any of these names above. My uncle is 91 yrs and he wanted to know who his grandparents where. I thought this would be any easy task but I found out that can be quite a chore. I live in Stephenville, Texas
Thank you very much for your help.
I did notice part of your e-mail address in the context of the note, but I didn't know if I should put Bill Forson @...well, now that I have demonstrated my ignorance, I want to thank you for taking the time to respond. This is apparently not the Minnie Forson I am seeking. My Minnie Forson was the mother of my great-grandmother. Her name was Virginia and she married William Thomas Stanford. I don't know if they had always lived in Clairette, Texas, but they were there in the 1940's along with Virginia's daughter< Myrtle Lee (Stanford)Thompson and her husband, Artie Leslie Thompson. My grandmother mentioned in later life that she thought some her ancestors had come to Texas from the north...Possibly Illinois. Anyway, Thanks again.
Donna...

I saw your posting, and we are cousins -- both descended from John Starling & Sarah Laymance Brown. I am descended from Marvin Chester Brown, who was a brother to your Addie Brown Forson. ...By the way I met your Aunt Bobby Jo last night at the funeral of the youngest of the original eleven -- Eunice Brown Saylors. She died on Tuesday, June 4 (2002) at the age of 101. I would be glad to share the information I have if you're still interested.

Regards,
Corey Trautvetter
Dallas, Texas

Hi Heather,

I have been offline for over a year after lightening fried my computer. I am now back online and was checking some of the old messages. Are you still interested in this line? Minnie (my g grandmother) was married to W.T. Stanford.

I am the great granddaughter of Minnie Forson and William Thomas Stanford. Minnie was 14 when she married W.T.
Their daughter, Myrtle Lee, was my grandmother. I was briefly in touch with some folks a couple of years ago but we had conflicting data. What little information I had was obliterated when lightening struck my computer. I do have information about Myrtle's descendants that I would gladly share.

I think the Forson and Forgay family have a connection. I am looking for Sarah Forgay. My grandfather was James Fate Keeney from Texas. I was told his mother was Sarah Forgay. We don't know anything about his father. If you have any information about this family would you let me know?
