Grace Bell Forthyse Wells Davis in Ohio 1886 - 1956

I am looking for information on Grace Bell Wells Davis.

Born most likely in Ohio (possibly Peebles, Ohio) - Feb 2, 1886.
Buried in Willow View Cemetery, Northridge, Dayton, Ohio on May 16, 1956

Grace was believed to be born as Yellow Moon Running Horse - full Cherokee Native American. She later was named Grace Bell Forthyse. She married George William Wells (sep 3, 1886 - feb 8, 1936) and had one son, also named George William Wells. Grace had a daughter named Audrey with a different spouse, and could possibly have had additional children. She later remarried under the name of Davis and therefore buried as Wells Davis.

Any information that might be found on Grace Bell Forthyse (1886-1956), George William Wells (1886-1936), or any details affiliated with them would be extremely appreciated.

Hello, I'm Keila Forsythe and I grew up in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. As far as family tales go, I'm pretty sure I have heard the name Earl passed around, but I'm sorry I'm not sure exactly what happened to him. I may be able to find him on my family tree though if you give me a little time. Just for information, there are alot of Forsythe's in Lewistown and surrounding towns. When doing your genealogy seach please know that the Forsythe Surname was orginally Forsyth (without the 'e'), therefore it might help you a little bit to research on the second name mentioned as well as Forsythe. I'd be happy to share some of the family history with you that has been told to me. I can't promise it will be 100% accurate but, some of it is pretty interesting.

Hi Eddie, I am researching this line, Margaret Enna Forsyth who married James R. Lowe, Senator from San Jose California. She was Preident of the Santa Clara Board of Education, had three children but died young of Tuberculosis. She had been a teacher at the time of her message, but I haven't been able to find much of her earlier life, other than the census....she was apparently quite gifted. She was the daughter of Duncan Charles Forsyth and Eleanor. She had one brother, Alexander who lived in San Francisco and had fought in the Civil War for Ohio.

Looking for Jacob A. & Martha Forsythe (Forsith) and Ellen Burk

A recent discovery in the 1850 census records have led me to Morgan Township, Owen County, Indiana in search of Jacob A. Forsythe (spelled Forsith in the census of 1850), his wife Martha, and daughter Sena A (or Cena A). It is possible that Martha's maiden name was Burk as there was an Ellen Burk (age 13) living in the Forsith household and she was much too old to be the child of Martha. Has anyone encountered a Jacob A. Forsith or Forsythe marrying into the Burk family? A family genealogy compiled in the 1940s by my grandmother suggest that Jacob's wife may have been a Graham. Not sure which. Here's some more info:

Jacob A. Forsythe born abt 1806-1808 in Virginia
Martha Forsythe born abt 1828-1830 in Indiana or Kentucky (prob Indiana)
Sena A. (or Cena A.) Forsythe born abt 1849 in Indiana
Richard A. Forsythe born abt 1851-1852 in Indiana
George L. Forsythe born abt 1858 in Illinois
Mary T. Forsythe born abt 1862 in Illinois
Charlotte G. Forsythe born abt 1865 in Illinois
Emma S. Forsythe born abt 1868 in Illinois

In 1850, Ellen Burk, b. abt 1837 was living with Jacob, Martha and Sena/Cena in the 84th district of Morgan Township, Owen County, Indiana. By 1860, the family had moved west to Township 6 Range 6 E, Effingham county, Illinois. By 1870, the family had again moved, this time southwest to Washington Township, Lafayette County, Missouri.

I'm hoping to find any references to Jacob A. and Martha Forsythe/Forsith, marriage records, perhaps mention in a will. Jacob was significantly older than his wife so this may have been a second marriage for them but perhaps not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cynthia DeLay

Do you know what your Robert Forsythe's mother's name was, possibly from his death record?

I have just run across one of my ancestors who was married to a Wm Forsythe and one of their house hold members was listed as Robert Forsythe born abt 1883 in Minnesota. It is possible that he is Wm's step son and at this point I don't know if he assumed the Forsythe name or was adopted. I have a little additional info if this turns out to be the correct person. Do you have any info as to Robert's occupation?
You can contact me directly at me_hagge@comcast.net

Mitchell Hagge
Blaine, MN

Got your email....I can't really give you any information...My mother (now deceased) was the daughter of Bert Forsythe. He was born in Pendleton County Kentucky. The only info I have about him was what I was told. My mother said he died. He fell off of scaffolding(he was a painter by profession). I can only figure this was about 1930-34? He would have been about 52 years old. He was about 44 at the birth of my mother. Anyway, after his death, her mother (Mary Hamel) put her and her siblings (2 brothers and 1 sister) in childrens homes (foster care). That is all I can tell you...I don't think there were any relations in Rhode Island..only Kentucky

There is supposed to be an obituary in something called the "Forest Press". The obit should have been in that paper on Jan 15th or 16th of 2002. Claude lived in Tionesta, before becoming ill. I would really appreciate someone finding this for me! Thanks so much.

Do you have any information on the 1850 census listing for Mary A. Forsyth, age 23, and Ann E. Forsyth, age 3. They are listed in the household of Jane Pendley, age 51. I have found notice that a Mary Findley m. James Forsyth but cannot confirm or deny.

I am interested in determining if this is the Anna Elizabeth that married Russell Augustus Prickett. Some Prickett researchers claim her name was Whatley but cannot furnish proof. I have her death certificate where her son stated that her father was Mr. Forsyth. On her appication for Civil War Widow's pension, she stated that she was born in DeKalb Co., GA 06/02/1847. Thanks for your help
