Carmen Fortino

I have just begun working on my husband's family tree. An unlce by marriage, Carmen Fortino, married Lucy Yorio. He came from Calabria, Italy. Carmen and his brother Bruno came to the US. They lived first in Rochester, NY then Corning, NY. His other brother Joseph and sister Mary couldn't get into the US and lived in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I believe that Mary Fortino married Frank Bozzo. If anyone can help with any information, I would be grateful. I do not know the parents of Carmen and his siblings. Thank you.

I was looking for my birth mother. I was born on 1/10/1956 to a Mary Fortino at Our Lady of Victory Infant Home in Lackawana New York. At that time she named me Micheal Anthony Fortino

Hello, I am looking into some family history. My Grandmother Jennie Fortino, was born in Chicago in 1909. I think her parents names were John and Nancy from Italy. Jennie's siblings were Frank, Levia, Rose(Dolly, Carmella, Tony and Steve. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to find out where in Italy my family is from. Thanks!

Looking for information on Michael Fortino (b about 1840) and his wife Jennie. They had 3 boys Frank (abt 1888), Paul (abt 1896), Felix (abt 1896), and Louis (abt 1901). The had some girls too, Amelia and Leona (maybe Felix's wife?) Sometime between 1880 and 1930 they changed their name to Fortney.

FORTINO, Lise Marie - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lise Marie to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2003 after a courageous battle at Mount Sinai Hospital at the age of 47 years. Beloved wife and friend of Eddy. Loving and dedicated mother of Conrad and Marty. Cherished daughter of Bernadette and the late Charles Nadeau. Daughter-in-law of the late Marietta and Carmine Fortino. Loving sister of Andre Nadeau (Arla), Ivan Nadeau (Gail), Lucie Lebouef (Ivan), France Nadeau and Suzie Hanson (Mike). Sister-in-law of Pat Fortino (Carol). Survived by many nieces and nephews as well as aunts and uncles. She will be missed by Karen Luxton and her many friends and all that knew her. Lise was a tireless worker who loved her teaching profession, especially the children as well as her co-workers. She also enjoyed her various volunteer assignments over the years. Lise had many good qualities; her unconditional love for family and friends was to be admired. Unselfish, caring as well as gentle but strong and courageous as a lion when she had to be. A good human being. Friends may call at the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Veronica's Church on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Paul Conway officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Princess Margaret Hospital (Amyloidosis Unit) would be appreciated by the family. I've been searching on my own for the past year for some info. on my family history. This is what I know:
Grandfather was Joseph Fortino, and my Grandmother is Vera Fortino, maiden name Mazzonti
From what i know my family is from Naples, Italy, and Sicily, Italy.

Nicole, I hope you receive this message as I am not sure how to do this. My maiden name was Fortino. My husband, who is also from Italy said the name Fortino in Italy, is as common as Smith is in America. I will look further and wait to hear from you, there was no e-mail listed for you.

Evie, I see you have Joe Fortino listed. I am just beginning my research on a family tree for my children. My husband's name is Joe Fortino and he is named after an Uncle or Great Uncle (not sure). His father was Peter Anthony Fortino Born on 10-23-40 and died in May 1969, one week after he was born. Is this any connection to you? I have never meet anyone on my husbands side of the family, therefore have a long search ahead of me...

It was a nice surprise to receive your e-mail. My husband, who is from Cariati, said the name Fortino is as common in Italy as Smith is in America. How old is your mom? Ask her if she remembered Louis Fortino, Joe Fortino or Bombina Fortino? Yes, this is interesting.

My mother Rita Immaculata Fortino was born in Cariati, Italy. She has two sisters and one brother. She is now living in the U.S. Her moms name was Giovannini and I can't recall the dad's name.

I don't have any information, but I will keep trying. Do you know where your mother was born and her date of birth? Do you know where your father is. Is Fortino her married name or maiden name.
