Have only been working this Fosbrook name several hours today; and THIS IS NOT MY PERSONAL FAMILY TREE; however am willing to share what I've uncovered should any Fosbrook wish to follow the name presently--rather than going back to the England roots---which I'll leave to others.
These are NOT IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER; BUT PRESENTED AS I CAME ACROSS THE INFORMATION
JAMES FOSBROOK b 1847 England, marries Lovina MATTHEWS, youngest daughter of Orlando G Matthews;and granddaughter of Jacob Matthews and Mary Fish of Essex Co, NY.
Lovina Matthews FOSBROOK's obituary stated she died in her home in Troy in mid May 1910 and left husband, James FOSBROOK, a son, James Jr and several daughters to mourn their loss. Burial was to be in Saugertis, Ulster Co, NY.
Now, the survivors were NOT NAMED SPECIFICALLY--I just input them after checking the 1910, 1900, and 1880 census. In the 1900 census Lovina Matthews Fosbrook stated that she was the mother of 8 children; of whom only 5 were living as of that census. In the 1880 census she had May, 11yr; Annie 8 yrs; Sarah 6 yrs; and James , Jr 4 years; and daughter Etta was 16 yrs, being born April 1884 and only child left in household.
James Orlando Fosbrook married Eva Bovee, daughter of Culver Bovee of Johnstown, NY; specifically mentioned in the accidental death of said Culver Bovee in 1913 account of the death.
James Orlando Fosbrook died May 23, 1924 at his home. Survivors were his wife, Eva and 3 sisters (and again, no specific names); apparently NO CHILDREN OF ISSUE.
June 13, 1883---Saugertis---Joseph Fosbrook, died on Sunday morning and was buried Monday by the members of the Ulster Lodge of Odd Fellows; the deceased having been a member of the Lodge about 20 years. A lady and gentleman arrived here on Sunday morning on a visit to Mr Fosbrook's, from England, and were surprised to find him dead.
The will of Joseph Fosbrook, deceased, of the town of Shandaken, was proved and admitted to probate. The deceased was of the town of Saugerties, and the will gives all the
property to the wife Hannah during her natural life, after her death the same to go to the four children, James, William and George Fosbrook, and Annie Tealing, wife of John
Tealing. Hannah is made the exeoutrix.
The will is. dated June 6th, 1883, witnesses J. Smith and W. H Raymond
According to the 1880 Saugerties Census, Joseph was 57 and a saloon keeper; wife, Hannah, 56; son George 14; and Esther Fosbrook, granddaughter aged 3yrs.
1860 census, Saugerties has children: James 13; William, 12; Esther 9; Anna 8 and Joseph Jr 1yr.
In the 1850 Saugerties census it has his father William, aged 72 living with him.
Well, pretty good here for only 3 hrs of work on a tree that isn't even mine. All information gathered here was done through census info and the wonderful pages of the website OLD FULTON, NY, POSTCARDS.
