If you have a male Foster relative who is willing I highly recommend a DNA test. I, too, had a brick wall that no one in decades was able to break through. DNA led me to the right tree to research where I found my answers. It won't tell you who the ancestor was, but it will certainly tell you if you are looking in the right direstion.

I thing they might be the same as in your tree.. but cant find the documentation to prove it.. My sam lived in Miss but moved to arkansas and back to tn where he remet my gggrandmother after the war.. her name.. fannie williams.. her diaries are up.. He came back from holly springs and hadnt seen each other for 4 years prior to the war ending
I have good documentation of years from the war down...
I am a foster from my fathers side also.. they came from ireland

Hi folks,

I'm trying to help a friend who is interested in finding out more about her family's heritage. Her grandmother was a Foster, but originally "Fosterberg" or something similar. My friend has been told it was probably of Jewish origin and her grandmother, who would have been a young girl during the holocaust, did not talk about it and too late to try to get more information from her. I'm hoping someone on the list might know something about this as I am familiar with Germans who immigrated around WWI and WWII who changed German sounding names to fit in.

I am researching my great-grandparents James Blaine (JB) Foster 1884-1961 son of Henry Clay Foster & Nancy Jane Hinton-Foster. And his wife Ora Mae Parks-Foster 1893-1983 daughter of Henry Sidney Parks & Lizzie Ellison-Parks all from Noble County Ohio. Sometime after 1900 JB owned a General store with post office in Olive Green Ohio, he married Ora in 1912 and they both worked there. In 1914 they had their first child my grandmother Roxie then sometime before 1916 they sold their store and moved to Cleveland Ohio. Anyone with any information about this period or even earlier regarding my family I would be interested in hearing from you!

Sidney Foster listed on the 1850 census in Mercer, CO, PA
as the head of the family. A later census lists her husband as born in VA, but he died in 1850 prior to the census. I would like to find out her husband's name and date of birth and any descendents of this family.
Their children are: Setsian (f)b 1821, John b 1823, Lewis b 1830, James b 1833, Hannah b 1835, Abby b 1838 and Augustus Scott b 1850.

My foster is Hannah b 1835. Her mother, Sidney b 1795, was born in PA. Hannah's father was born in VA, but I don't know his name as he had died just prior to the 1850 census.
I have names of Hannah's siblings and her children with Charles Rapp. Please post if you might be related to this family.

In numerous places on the internet, a marriage date and place is shown for Joel Parks (1761-1850) & Chloe Foster Parks (1764-1832)as 31 Oct 1784 Ballston Center, Saratoga Co., NY. However, I can not find one verifiable reference for this marriage anywhere. Does anyone know where actual proof of this marriage might be found? Chloe is from the Christopher Foster line of Long Island, NY.

I'd like to find out more information on Mary Ellen Wheeler's father, John Roger Wheeler. Mary Ellen's birth certificate state that Joh Roger was from Maine but on all the census', Mary Ellen says her father was from Massachusetts. John Roger was born about 1824 and died about 1860 Southwest Pass, Burrwood, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. John Roger was the first husband of my maternal great great grandmother, Bridget Mulllins Wheeler Conner.

Does anyone have any information about the above? My GG GF Frederick Henry FOSTER emigrated from England to Clyde in 1851 and returned to England in c1855. He was a plumber and glazier by trade and I wonder whether he went over to work in the glass factory. Frederick married Millicent MORRIS while he was in USA and they had my G GM Mary Ann Singleton Foster while they lived there, in 1854.

Patrick was born in 1825 and Ellen in 1828. Their brother Jospeh was born in 1833-I'm descended from his line. Some of Joseph's daughters may also have emigrated-Mary b.1860, Margaret b.1865 & catherine b.1867.

I don't know if your Foster and Mills are related to mine buty I have a James Mills, born Templecarn, Fermanagh, Ireland about 1819 married to Johanna JOhnstone, and they had a son, James Mills born abt 1854 Dublin Ireland. He married Elizabeth Foster b. abt 1856 in Tempo, Fermanagh, and their son, George Wilfred Mills came to Canada in 1916.

I am looking for a Ralph Foster, or Ralph E. Foster or Ralph Elliot Foster.

He has or had a sister Gail. He graduated from USF with a degree in astronomy (we think). Or physics. Or something similar.

He may have gone to the University of Iowa to get an upper degree in Astrophysics. He may speak russian.

At one point he lived in Rancho Cucamonga, last seen in 1985.

His college friends are looking for him. He should have graduated in 1974 or 1975 and been born between 1951 and 1953.

His father was named George Foster ... the parents worked for NASA at Wallaps Island. His mother (whose name we don't know) catalogued items there, and the father we are unsure.

He was from Pocomoke City, MD

He wore glasses and may be bald at this point.

WAPELLO, Iowa -- Anna Mae Foster, 81, of the Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington.

Visitation will be at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Cremation will follow and there will be no formal funeral ceremony.

Mrs. Foster was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Galva, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Amy Collinson Binge. She married Sala Foster on Aug. 5, 1972 in Galesburg.

She was formerly of Oakville and lived several years in Galesburg. She was a bartender at Oakville Tap in the 1960s and then for a time in the Galesburg area and later owned and operated Annies Tap in Oakville with her husband. She and her husband enjoyed camping.

Survivors include her husband, Sala; three grandchildren, Sherri, Deedee, and Larry David Rowe; a sister, Jeanette Myler of Galesburg; a stepson, Rick Foster of Abingdon, Ill.; and a stepgrandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Dean Rowe; an infant brother, Hedley Binge; and two sisters, Eula Cartensen and Marion Madelitz.

Mr. Foster was born March 8, 1925, in Maquon, Ill., the son of Robert and Thelma Donnellson Foster. He married T. Maxine Johnson in 1950. He later married Anna Mae Binge Aug. 5, 1972, in Galesburg, Ill. She preceded him in death March 24, 2001.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a fireman. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion, Abingdon, Ill.

He had worked as a mechanic and a truck driver and then installed advertising signs for P and N Lustrolite, Galesburg. After moving to Oakville, he operated a gas station and with his wife operated Annie's Tap.

Survivors include a son, Rick Foster and wife Linda of Abingdon; a grandson, Anthony Foster of La Grange, Mo.; a brother, Robert Foster Jr. of Yates City, Ill.; and two sisters, Agnes Burns of Peoria, Ill., and Edna Sprinkle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Anna.

NEW BOSTON, Illinois - Linda Lou Foster, 61, New Boston, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at her home in Astor, Florida.

Funeral Service will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Reverend William Gluck will officiate. Burial will be at the Illinois City Cemetery.

Linda was born on April 12, 1947, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Donna Noble Fitters.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge, she enjoyed watching stock car and NASCAR racing, spending time at her Florida home and spending time with her friends and family.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, John Foster of New Boston, Illinois; her daughter, Sherri Downey, of New Boston, Illinois; three sisters, Doris Jacobs of Fruitland, Iowa, Mary McKune and husband, Phillip of Washington, Iowa, and Alice Neuenkirk of Morning Sun, Iowa; and two brothers, Pat Gould of Iowa, and Charlie Gould of Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and two brothers.

MUSCATINE, Iowa -Gary Lee Foster, 63, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at his home after a brief illness.

Graveside service will be at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Anyone wishing to attend should meet at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.

Gary was a Vietnam veteran who faithfully served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, retiring from the Army in 1983.

Gary is fondly remembered by his wife, Rose Foster of Muscatine; uncle, Gerald Burroughs, Pickerington, Ohio; and numerous cousins; brothers David of Davenport and Jon of Sherrard, Illinois; his daughter, Felicia Foster of Rock Island, Illinois; and two granddaughters, Brittany, who lives in Rhode Island; and Anastasia, who lives in Lithuania.

Francis M., Noah, Edward or Edmund, FOSTER, Randolph Co AL

I am researching the family of Francis M. Foster. Francis or Frank was a son of Ignatious G. Foster and Elizabeth Haygood. Frank was born in KY, but subsequently lived in Randolph Co AL. He died 15 FEB 1920, and is buried at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, in Randolph County AL.

Frank married Mary Cates, and their children were Francis/Frank, Edward or Edmund, Noah W., Mary, Harriett "Hattie", and Corabell (there could have been others).

Noah lived in Randolph Co AL, married Mary, had children named Dollie, Major, Inez, Ruby, and Addie (possibly others). I believe Noah died in 1953. One of his daughters may have married a man with surname Kenny or Kenney.

I'd appreciate hearing from any descendants of Francis M. Foster.

Would appreciate any and all info on cassie or cassa kirkwood...married into the foster family of new castle, pa. or surrounding area sometime in the late 1800's. last known time of her being alive is Dec. 1901. don't know if she was still married or widowed.
