Bradley H. Foulk,
Bradley H. Foulk, District Attorney of Erie County, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at his residence in Erie.pa, Born December 24, 1947 in Erie, he was a son of the late John S. and Jean A. (Heubel) Foulk.
He was a graduate of Academy High School, and received a bachelor’s degree from Lambuth College, Jackson, Tenn., and obtained a juris doctor from Memphis State University in 1975. He was admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. 3rd Circuit of Appeals, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Erie County Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Foulk served Erie County as Assistant Public Defender from 1981-84, and Assistant District Attorney from 1988-95, was Senior Deputy in the Criminal Division of the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General from 1995-97, and was presently serving a third term as Erie County District Attorney. He has lectured for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, District Attorneys Institute, District Attorneys Association, and State Police, along with Mercyhurst College, the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime and the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the Joint State Government Commission’s Legislative Task Force on Geriatric and Seriously Ill Inmates, and served on its’ Advisory Committee. Attorney Foulk’s memberships include Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, the National District Attorney’s Assn., Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Assn., of which he was currently President and a member of their Executive Committee, Pennsylvania Bar Assn., Pennsylvania Supreme Court Capital Case Standards Committee, and Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Medical Legal Advisory Board. In addition, he was a member of the Erie County Bar Association, Children’s Advocacy Center Board of Directors, and Treatment Court Committee, and was currently co-director of the Erie County Weed & Seed Program since 2001. In 2003, he was honored with the Sisters of Saint Joseph “Courage to Come Back Award”, Also that year, Mercyhurst College presented him with the James V. Kinnane Distinguished Career Award, grown to be recognized as the most prestigious of its kind in northwestern Pennsylvania, for his outstanding contribution to the field of criminal justice. He was a member of Alcoholic’s Anonymous and enjoyed boating from Presque Isle Marina. Survivors include his wife whom he married in 1986, Caroline M. (Christoph) Foulk and his mother-in-law, Rita Christoph, of Erie. Friends may call Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 W. 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd., and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter Cathedral. Bishop Donald W. Trautman will preside. Private interment will be at Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center, House of Healing or Humane Society. Hi, I am descended from Lena Gravat Fulk's sister Mary. Their father was John Gravat but I do not know who their mother was. The Elizabeth age 66 is mother to John and Samuel. Margaret Gravatt is mother to Lena Fulk and Mary. If I find more info, I will pass it along.

The Foulk name is supposed to be in our family tree, and I cant for the life of me trace it. I was always told that Foulk Road was named after one of OUR ancestors. Names in our tree would be: Leech/Leach, Crist, Sheldrake, Moore. I am still trying to tie it all together. We were from the west Philadelphia/Chester County area in the 1700's.

I realize this has been on Ancestry for a long time, so you may have everything I have and then some. I am fortunate enough to have a family bible with some information. There was an obituary in the Mount Holly Hearld for Andrew. a copy of which is in the bible. Andrew was born in Ct. 3 July 1786 and died 29 Oct. 1843. His marriage date was 1812. I do not have Martha so I'll be glad to add her to the family. I have Asa (the line we follow)He was born about 1816 and died 5 March 1875 in Vincentown, Burlington, New Jersey. He married Elizabeth 20 Sept 1839. (The surname is probably Hammell) There was also a child Henry born in 1814 and another child born in 1821. Unknown sex and any other information.

In the bible the name is spelled Foulk, Foulke, Foulkes and Foulks. Interesting-- my husbands grandfather had a story that two brothers came from Germany , one stayed here and one went to Pa. He claimed there were no varations of the spelling. Both those things turned out to be not true.

If you have found any further information about Andrew I would appreciate anything that you can share. Also , if you want other family groups from present time to Andrew, please let me know.

Samuel and John Fulk/Foulk in West Salem, Pennsylvania in 1850

I am trying to find the parents of John Foulk who I find in West Salem, Mercer County, Pennsylvania in 1850. I am descended through his son, William R. who was born October 10, 1835 in Ohio. In the 1850 census of West Salem, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, John and Jane "Fulk" are listed with William, Jonathan, ?, Levina, Lucy, Warren, and Arminta. The previous family in the census list is Samuel and Lena "Fulk" with children, George, Adaline, ?, as well as Elizabeth (age 66) and Margaret Gravat/Gravatt (age 66). Since the families are neighbors, I am wondering how they are related to each other. The age of John is listed as 44 and the age of Samuel is listed as 25 and they are both listed as having Ohio as their birthplace.

My dad was born there in 1946. His name is Frederick Foulk. His mother was Carmen Johnston. I think his dad was James Foulk. It's been a while since I have been there, I can remember cherry hill for a street name, and Austin Town. I think my dad went to raven or ryan high school, something like that. He said he played football against Al Bundy/Ed O'Neil.

What Foulks are you related to from Youngstown? My ggrandmother was Ida Augusta Foulk, b. May 1859 d. 11 Dec 1917. I don't know much about her. Her death certificate did not list her parents. She married my ggrandfather, Henry Perkins Beaumont on 13 Jan 1884 in Mahoning County. They lived in North Jackson.

her brother was Hugh Swinton Legare the man who became
Sec of State under Pres Tyler. My middle name is Legare as is my mother and grandfather. I researched my gr gr gr grandfather Francis Solomon Legare and found that he married
an Anne Lancois in Lyons, France
My gr gr grandfather was Solomon Legare who owned Sol Legare Island off the coast of Charleston, S.C.
It was a rice plantation and the yankees burned out the whole family. They relocated and eventually ended up on the west coast
I am planning to visit South Carolina someday and find cousins and visit the island
My gr grandmother is buried in the Hugounot church (sp?)

Ida Foulk was born 17 May 1882 in Charlotte, Livingston, Illinois and is the daughter of William R. Foulk and Hellena Fox. William was born on 10 Oct 1835 in Ohio, served in Company G, Regiment 36, Illinois Infantry during the Civil War, and died 16 May 1894 in Kingman, Kansas. Hellena was born 8 Dec 1845 in Holland and died 4 Sep 1899 in Kingman, Kansas. They were married 11 Jan 1864 in Morris, Grundy, Illinois.

My second great grandfather George Ellicott married Mary Godden Foulk widow of George Foulk the son of Jacob. On 1900 census in Henry Twp., Wood Co. Ohio Jacob is still alive born Jan 1818 widowed living with son Edward a minister of the Gospel.

Sacramento, CA – Harry William FOULK 60, of Sacramento died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1982) in CA. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, a son of Carl E. & Reva FOULK.
He was a self-employed welder.
Surviving are his wife, Marybelle FOULK; 2 daughters: Joanne TROUTMAN of CA & Mary Lynn BROWN of Albany, NY; 2 sons: Allen FOULK of CA & Clifford FOULK, stationed with the US Army in Germany; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Reva FOULK of Kennedy, NY; a brother, Leland FOULK of Falconer, NY & 2 sisters: Mrs. Richard WAKEFIELD of Ashville, NY & Mrs. Edward CESSNA of Sacramento.
He was preceded in death by his father, & a brother, Edward LeRoy FOULK.
A memorial service will be at 2 PM Thursday in Kennedy United Methodist Church, Kennedy, NY. The Rev. Larry Smith will officiate.
Burial was in CA.

I have Foulk/Dowden connection. Grace Foulk m/George Dowden and resided in Defiance co Ohio.Believe she was born in In.. Re/ Dewey; while searching found a obit (Springfield newspaper 16 Jan 1971) for Mrs Dewey A. (Delcie) Foulk of Bellefontaine. She was born 1908 in Fayette co, the dau of Harl and Gertrude Baker. Dewey and Delcie were married Sept 25 1943. Hope this helps you.

Charles Fulks was born in 1773 in Virginia, not 1797................ his first wife was Jane Farmer daughter of Thomas and Sarah Jane Farmer...............Jane died and Charles re-married a second time, to Sraah McKinley. Sarah McKinley was the sister to Esther McKinley who married Charles son Joseph Fulks of which my husband descends.

I am searching for information on Andrew Foulke who lived in New Hanover in Burlington Co., NJ during the first half of the 1800's. He and his wife Mary-who was from CT- had at least two children, Martha who married my g-g-g-grandfather, Whitten Harker, in 1841, and her younger brother Asa. Any help would be appreciated.

That bit of information recently allowed me to identify several unmarked photographs in my family collection. One photo had an image of a group of people standing in front of a motorcar, 2 of men in clerical collars. One of the names listed on the back was "Eddie", no surnames were indicated. Your post allowed me to connect "Eddie" to Edward Foulk, and subsequently identify photographs of his sister Olive Foulk Bard and several other members of her family. (Olive, Edward, and George are siblings of my great great grandmother Clara Foulk Corson).

So thank you for posting the information, even if it took me 2 years to respond!

Trying to find details of John Foulk, born Blackburn, Lancashire, England, 1833.
His mother Margaret (nee Parkinson) married Richard Eatough in 1845 and the family emigated to America sometime after 1851, but probably before 1860.
The only reference I have is from Persinger's "History of Merrick County" when, at the end of 1868, John Foulk's shoe shop is listed as one of the four business buildings in Lone Tree.
Any information as to what became of John will be most appreciated.

My grandfather's name was John Harrison Foulk(e), and from what I understand (not for sure), his father's name was Harrison Foulk(e). I have learned from a cousin that Harrison Foulk was a doctor.

My grandfather was born June 28, 1858. I have no idea where, but he married my grandmother, Leah Lucinda Echelbarger, and spent his life in Ohio.

Hi there, don't know if we have much in common family wise but you sound like a nice person and I would like to help.I have noticed that only one person has answered you. So don't get discouraged keep on looking. There is bound to be info on family out there. I was born in the same general area and I recall having a John Foulk in my lineage too and he married an Anne. They were farmers and not very good at their trade. If this sounds familiar please let me know. You never know we may be somehow connected in the family tree. The problem I have is are my roots from Wales or Germany? I have very little info on German roots. Yet my family always claimed to be from Germany. Oh well.

Wow, I am speechless. That rarely happens. Ha! Ha! I have been at a stand still because I have had so little to go on. My computer has been down the last few days. But if you send me your e-mail I will send you what I have on my side of the family tree and see if we have some common names and dates. I would love to see what you have come up with. I do feel that the family is related to the Pa. side and the De.side. The spelling of the name and the closeness of the vicinity can't be just coincidence. You know what I mean? The one problem that I have is that I was "always" told that we were from German. I have found very little proof that the "FOULK" name is linked to Germany. Unless my side took the wrong turn somewhere, when they were coming to America.

I remember seeing an Emos Foulk in the census, along with a few others. I know that Emos was around the general area of Alloway Creek vicinity like my Grandparents. Gary Donald Foulk, 61, son of Harry and Ada Miller Foulk, was born Feb. 17, 1943, at the family farm at Summersville. He died April 16, 2005, at his home after an 18-month battle with cancer.
The family moved to Birch Tree in 1946 to establish a general store and feed business.
He graduated from Birch Tree in 1961 and moved to St. Louis, where he worked at St. Louis Flying Service. He later worked at McDonnel Aircraft building F-4 Phantoms.
He married Dorothy DeBord of Mountain View in 1964. They made their home in St. Charles.
In 1969, they left the city and moved to Montier, where they operated a general store and later added a milk route.
To meet the needs of the community, they changed to auto parts in 1976. They were contributing delegates to the Shannon County Democrat Committee.
In 1990, they sold the business and he began working in automotive sales in Mountain Grove and West Plains. They moved to West Plains, where he joined O'Reilly Automotive.
The Foulks moved to Springfield in 2002, where he worked at O'Reilly in Nixa.
He was diagnosed and treated for cancer in 2003 and his wife left her job in June 2004 to devote her nursing skills to her husband.
Surviving are his wife and daughter, Laurene Ann.
A celebration of his life with a eulogy is 2 o'clock Saturday, May 7, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Mountain View with a casual visitation until 5 p.m.
His ashes will be scattered at a later date in a private ceremony. Additional memorial services will be arranged in Springfield at a later date.

In the 1930 census I find Arthur and Bernice with three children: Gertrude E. b. 1923, Lowleada N. b. 1925 and Kenneth D. b. 1929. Also living with the family is Arthur's younger brother, Herbert E. FOULK, b. 1913.

Does anyone know this family? I'm interested in contacting descendants and learning more about Arthur and Bernice. Thank you.

Julia Sherk, G-granddaughter of Casper & Magdalena, married my G Grandfather Wilmer Steele. I have little on Sherks and would appreciate more on Julia's family members. I have much Steele info if you'd like it.
