My grandmother, Erma Matilda Founds married Daniel Jones in the early 1930's. I have a cenus that reports her as getting married when she was 15 yet I find living with her parents without mention of Daniel within about 3 years. Erma was reported as being 18 and her last name is still reported as Jones. I have an alteria motive that includes twins that were seperated and split to settle a personal property suit.

I don't know if this is the same William or not, but a William Founds enlisted in Snow's Battery B, 1st Maryland Light Artillery, on February 24, 1864. He was captured with 23 other men of the Battery at Hanging Rock Gap, W.Va., June 21, 1864, and taken to Savannah, Ga., where he was "hospitalized" in a Confederate prison hospital and wrote a letter to his commanding officers at that time saying he was sick in Savannah, Ga., circa August 1864. No further disposition on him has been found to date.
Heather,
Quite a few of the Founds researchers have been trying to find the same thing only to hit a brick wall. We're pretty sure that John came from Chester Co., PA . The only thing is the 1810 census Greene Co., PA is where we found John and Nancy before they migrated to Ohio Co., VA . If you have more than this would love to hear from you. Pat

Cher'ley- My Mother's family Bible lists her as Mary Jane Farrell. Don't know if this or one of your options is correct, as many names can be mangled/changed over the years. "Ferrel" became "Farrell" when my grandmother chose to use it for my father's middle name, but still said it was a "family" name.

Margaret Carney and William Founds

This post is for Sandra Singleton Founds...
I sent the information you gave me on Margaret Carney and William Founds to my "unofficial family biographer", and got this response-
"I do have William (bc 1835 in PA) and Margaret (bc 1838 in MD) in my
database along with children Henrietta (bc 1865 PA), Amer P [I have him as
Amos] (bc 1871 MD), Clara (bc 1872 MD), Philip T (bc 1873 MD), and Ella May
(bc 1879 MD). All I have on this family is the 1880 census (Cecil Co, MD),
but I probably have more, later, censuses as I collected all references to
the Founds name in all censuses and made photocopies of most, but have never
had the time to sit down and in-put the data except for our own branch.

Based on the current information, William is from one of the Chester County
families -- that is where all the other Cecil & Harford Co MD Foundses come
from. Since he should be in his parental family in the 1850 census, I could
probably figure it out fairly soon..."

Do these dates match with your Margaret and William?

I was just wondering if your Arrowsmith's in Pickering include an Elijah and Elizabeth with children Florence, Maud, Lillian and Alice?

I have been corresponding with a person in Arizona whose family married into the Arrowsmith's of Pickering. If you are interested in contacting her please send your e-mail address and I will forward it on.

Regards,
Charlene Dunbar
Toronto, Canada (kellyadunbar@aol.com)
