Re: John Fout of Oklahoma

Do you know Roger Southern? John D. and Laura "Addie" Evans-Fout were his g/p's. His mother was Cordie Lillian Fout-Southern. Addie Lou Evans' father was Christopher C. Evans and mother Christina Eunice Tiny Wilson. Addie's maternal g/f was William Everett S. Wilson and g/m Sarah E. Felkins. Addie's paternal g/p's were Thomas Evans and Sarah C. Masterson.
Old man John "Pap" Fout (the father of all) was born in VA about 1825. Some Fouts' went to TN in the 1840s-50s. Most kids (abt 20) of Pap's went to the ARK counties of Baxter, Fulton, and Izard. Some kids moved to Missouri, some to Okla (LeFlore, Milton towns). Then later, some to Northern CA.
John D. Fouts' father was Albert Fout b. Apr 1866 in Izard Co, ARK d. 30 Jan 1905 in LeFlore Co, OK, mother Carolina Caldona Kansas Wells. Albert & Carolina were married 11 Aug 1887 in Baxter Co., ARK. I'd venture to say John was also born in Baxter Co.
My GG/gf is Daniel Fout, son of "Pap" and older brother to Albert, and was born in Missouri but died in Baxter Co. ARK

I, too, am a Fout descendant on John 'Pap' Fout line. I live near Stockton, CA. I found a Henry (b. 1825 VA)& Susan Fout in a 1860 Census from Baxter Co AR, and I believe this "Henry" could be John "Henry" Fout - since most people used their middle names instead of given names back then. There are a list of children in this census..one is John W- could be John William "Willie" Fout, and the father of my GG/gf Daniel Fout. I can be reached at pmckinney74@yahoo.com. Thanks, Pam

Hi...just came across your post. It appears this is my Fout line, so thot I'd share some info I have. Oscar Fout was nephew to my GG/gf Daniel Fout. All from Baxter or Fulton Co. Ark. His full name was Henry Oscar Fout, b. 12 Feb 1896 d. 21 Sep 1914 in Baxter Co. He's buried in Wake Cemetery. Oscar's father and mother were Jacob "Jake" Fout & Margaret Elizabeth Branch-Fout. Margaret may have died when Oscar was born since Jake was a widow in the 1900 census. Oscar may have been a sickly baby or had a birth defect. Jake remarried to a Mrs. Willie Welch in Milton, OK 28 Oct 1903 after his wife died. Jake's other son Albert married Mrs. Welch's daughter Nora Welch in 1904. You may contact me at pmckinney74@yahoo.com

Thomas Fout/Jefferson Co TN 1861

I am seeking information on a Thomas J Fout who is included on the list of Jefferson County TN, Free White Males in 1861 District 13, sequential number 2323. A John Fox is also on this list, same District, sequential #2324. Does anyone have inf on either of these two surnames, Fout or Fox, that would be helpful in 1) connecting them (perhaps Fout could have actually been mispelled for Fox) or 2) other leads.
Fran

Thank you for the information.

Your Eliza's maiden name was Hannigan, born Sept 1852 in WVa, died Oct 1937 in Shrewsburg, WVa...this is according to:
Proof of death: Charleston Daily Mail October 22, 1937

Are you certain Philip A is not the father of your Philip R?
I have not proven they are related, nor have I disproved it.
The naming patterns seem to fit, other Fout members have ended up in the same area, one of the census say Philip R was born in Va.
It was not unsual for the aunts/uncles to be younger than their neices/nephews.

I do have Philip R in my data base the son of Philip A, but I also have a disclaimer that I have no real proof. I will post your name as saying the two are unrelated.

Thank you!

My Father was named after his uncle that was born on Nov. 24th 1902. He was the brother of John Philip born 1/10/1891.

John Philip's (Jan 10, 1891) father was Philip R (Robert) Fout born Mar 1854 married Eliza (need last name)in 1882. IThere children were
Effie Mar 1893
Alfred Lee Fout Feb 1895
Pansy Apr 1897
Edney Aug 1899
Chester Nov 24, 1902 (father named after him)

I thought that maybe Philip A Fout born in 1831 in Botetourt was his father but that isn't so.... His son JOhn Phillip Fout was born July 29th 1881... (10 years earlier then my grand father.

Hope this makes sense... I haven't been doing this long but I am really stuck on trying to find my great, great, grandfather.

John "Pap" Fout, b. abt 1820-25. Son Daniel, b. 27 Apr 1853 (or 57 - differing records on y.o.b.). Daniel m. Mary P. Pierce and had 3 children: John Richard Fout, Charles Mathew "Mattie" Fout and Sarah Jane Fout. All kids used their middle names. Jane Fout was my G-grandmother. She married Andrew 'Henry' McKinney. Sarah died at age 50. Mattie Fout was killed in a timber accident when he was only 22. Mattie had married Clarra Hickman and had one daughter, Beulah Lee. 'Richard' married Clarra's sister, Sarah Frances Hickman and had many children. Richard died in 1955. I have a lot of Fout info if anyone is interested...including a picture of John "Pap" Fout.

I, too, am a Fout descendent. John "Pap"Fout was born btw 1820-1825. The John Fout noted in the census' born in Virginia does not match the origins in my bloodline, being that my John Fout's parents arrived in America from Germany and migrated to Ozark, Arkansas. In all my research, nowhere are they found in Virginia. I have a photo of John Fout if anyone is interested in seeing it. Email me at pmckinney74@yahoo.com. As with you, I hit a brick wall with the firstborn American Fout, John. He had a son by his first wife (can't find her) named Daniel b. 27 Apr 1853 or 57 (have differing y.o.b.). Daniel is my GG-grandfather. Daniel married Mary P. Pierce in GA. Their 3 children were born in GA. Mary died and Daniel married their 25 y.o, housekeeper Cordelia "Delia" Hand. Then, Daniel's father, old man Fout married Elmanda Kinard and had a son named Samuel W. Fout b. Jan 1878 in Mtn Home, Ark. Sam married a Choctaw Indian woman named Susan Gertrude Daniels and had several children. Go to my profile in ancestry.com under pamelamckinney56. Hopefully my Family Tree is Public. I have a lot of Fout info posted. Or, email me and I'll send you what I have.

Fout-Garvin family Pa to VA

Phoebe Fout (b.1792-d.1889) was the second wife of James Garvin (b.1784-d.1863). She was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia prior to her marriage in 1852.

She lived in Frederick County, Virginia and Hampshire County, West Virginia. In her later years, she resided with Caroline, wife of William Scott Johnson. I believe Caroline's maiden may have been Fout and perhaps she was Phoebe's niece. Caroline is mentioned in James Garvin's will, but no relationship is listed.

Phoebe and James Garvin are buried at Timber Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, Hampshire County, West Virginia.

I am interested in learning where in Pennsylvania Phoebe originated from. Thanks for any help.

Diane Klopp

Laurie- have you found out anything form your Dad about Tennah Nibert Fout? I noticed on her tombstone it says "Tennah Gerren Fout" did she marry a man named Kenny Gerren after James? Me and my son was out to Pleasant Ridge cemetery 2 days ago and I remembered Tennah had a daughter named Lillie who did she marry? We are trying very hard to place all these Nibert's.I've found out that my Grandpa Frank Nibert's Dad was Jim Ratliff Henry and his mother was Mary Susan Nibert (they were not married)I have written so many E- Mail's to people over the past few days that I can't remember what I've told to who.So please forgive me if I repeat myself. Any info you can give to me will really be appreciated. My Dad Richard Lee NIbert(4-30-31) is getting feeble and I want to tell him about his Nibert family before he passes.I found out things about his Mom that he never knew and he has cried for days out of sheer happiness.I even got to take him to the Persinger family reunion yesterday and he met cousins he didn't know he had.It was a wonderful experience just to watch him.By the way me and my son noticed that Tennah's grave is caving in badly at the foot end. We are going to try to fill it in with dirt for you all,we know you live far away and we live on the same ridge as the cemetery. We like to help take care of the old graves. If I had your address I could send you pictures of the graves of Tennah and James and their son Basil(1-15-1893 to 11-19-1923) we don't have a printer right now or I would send them via computer. Thanks for all your help -Shelia-
