Sir

I was just there looking for the Solomon Fouts Cemetery . . . unsuccessfully. Apparently wind & rain has toppled and split many trees and with the overgrowth made if tough finding anything. The instructions for finding the cemetery were good up until "the cemetery is just north of the road." Have you got more specific directions from the spot where you park on the road running parallel to the river?

Also, do you happen to know what used to be in that large mound directly opposite on the south side of the road. Looks like a foundation for barn, house or mill?

Plus, roughly about .1 to .2 miles west back up the road toward Hopewell Church, there is a spot covered with Periwinkle where there is debris that looked like a structure used to be there. Plus, there is a stone wall with a set of stone steps. It's near a brown road gate that leads up to a new cabin. Any idea what that is?

What I know about my grandfather is that he was a barber, he was good-looking and liked to have a good time.No one ever mentioned that he was Native American. We do have some Native Americans on my dad's side, but I never heard of anyone that was on my mom's side. I'm be happy to look at a photo, if you have one. Thank you.

My mom said that she definitely does not want to intrude on anyone and if we find out what happened to him, we will not contact any of the relatives.

Hi,
I am not sure if it is the same oscar Branham. If you would like I can send a picture to you and maybe someone in your family might recognize him. Other than that all i can tell you is that he was born in 1903, he had 10 children and one adopted child. Unfortunately he dies in 1980. I do know that he was an indian, still trying to figure out if it was apache or cherekee, he really didn't talk much about his childhood to the younger kids. Three of his sons have died and one of his daughters. If there is any other information you would like to know feel free to email me. hope this helps in some way. Sal

Her mother, Nina Mae Wilson married an Oscar Branham in 1933, but the marriage did not last and my mother went to live with other relatives. She has always wondered what happened to her father and if she has any half-siblings. If you have any information, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Tammy
I think that your Thomas B Loveall is my great grandfather. I'm not sure what happened to Eliza Fouts, his first wife, but I do believe that he had children by his second wife Mary Ann Barker.

If they are the same Thomas B Loveall, then his mother may not have been a widow. My father once told me that there was quite a dust up way back--his grandfather Thomas B & his brother found out that while pursuing their inheiritance that their father, Alex, had another family in Oklahoma (or Texas). Does any of this ring any bells? I'm having a lot of difficulty tracking my Loveall family beyond my great grandfather Thomas B. There are so many Lovealls and so many duplicate names in different branches, sigh.
What happened to Sophey Loveall? Who did she marry?

I'm still doing a lot of digging through this. My dad has memories of Benjamin coming to his house when he was a boy. He remembers his walking cane and how he used to trip the children with it.
We are descendants of Soloman Fouts of Murray County,Ga. I would like to hear from all of my relatives. I am making family trees. My dad is Harold Foutz(Fouts)
My grandfather was Lorenzo Lester Fouts. Lorenzo's father was Benjamin Franklin Fouts and Benjamin's father was Soloman Fouts. There was a time that I understand that one of my grandfather's sisters or brothers agree that the family name was going to be changed from Fouts to Foutz. The reason is unclear to me why they wanted to change the name. I will look forward to hearing from you. Take care,Annette Foutz Forbes
chippergirl@treyforbes.com

Fouts in Murray GA, Polk TN, that moved to KS, MO and OK

I have a lot of info, letters and photos that I would like to share. My GGG grandfather was Solomon Fouts which married Sarah Crouch (his slave) and had 6 children. Sarah died and he remarried. The daughters to the first marriage stayed in GA but the the sons D. I Fouts, David D Fouts and John moved. D.I became a doctor and settled in MO, John settled in KS and David (my gg grandfather) lived in MO, KS and OK. I am looking to connect with anyone who desend from Solomon so I can pass on the info, letters and photos I have. Also I am looking for info on David D Fouts. I can only find two records on him and in one of the records he uses a false name?? I know he married a woman named Fanny Brown and had at least one child Walter (which is my Great grandfather)I think David and Fanny had a daughter named Rosa. I have a letter from David to D.I in 1858. He was in Ills. at the time. Walter was a little shady himself, he was married three times, once to Minnie Childs of MO had one child then to C. C. Authur (his first cousin)had one child, he faked his death and left them behind. Then he married my great grandmother and had 7 more children. He refused to talk about his parents or any family members.

my home email is taylor6@metrocast.net

Dear Ms. Santos,

For my whole life, people have said I have beautiful skin coloring (dark) and look Native American. My whole family is from eastern Tennessee but my grandmother refuses to discuss any relation to the Cherokee. The Fouts are strong in my blood line. There is a Madison Taylor Fouts and an Essie Fouts. I believe I saw a record somewhere that I can't find now where they are registered as Cherokee. Do you have any information at all?

My name is Donna Sue Tackett Johnson. I live on Indian Creek at Virgie. I have lived in Pike County Kentucky all my life. I am now 61 years old. I also have a copy of one of C. Lofton Fouts's books, The Mountain Fouts of North Carolina. Is this the same book you have? Lofton mailed it to me in the early 70's. He and I used to talk on the telephone quite a lot in those days...no computers in use. I descend from George W. and Lucinda (Phillips) Fouts listed in the 1850 Ashe County NC Federal Census through their son Nathan. They migrated to Pike County Kentucky around 1858. Their youngest daughter Lucy A.'s 1859 Pike County birth record lists Lucy A. as the daughter of George W. and Lucinda Phillips Fouts. They first appear on the 1860 Pike County, Ky Federal Census. Fouts has been mistakenly transcribed by one person as 'Fonts' in one 1850 printed book form. I would love to correspond with you and add to the Fouts line. I also research several Hall lines, Tacketts, Browns, Howards, Mullins, Elswick, Caudill, Johnson, Osborn/e, Bolling, just to name a few.
Donna Sue
