Darece, I was just looking at names I know a bit about and saw your post on Fowke. Briefly, The Fowke family in VA and MD came from Staffordshire Eng. - a place called Gunston Hall. My wife and I have been there researching as she has a Fowke ancestor from tne 1700s in VA.
The MD Fowkes , starting with Gerrard Fowke in 1640 became a stable Charles Co. family that has descendants there today! The name has died out in Maryland tho.. Now there was(is) a Cross family of Barbour Co. WV that is multi-racial from Indian - White and Mulatto marriages from the Rev. War on! They are well known there. I know a Cross of that family who built my computer for me!
As you can see I don't have a single specific fact for your query but I do wish you luck in your attempt to find your blood ancestors! Dick Matteson College Park, MD
