I just happen to see your post from June of 2010. I am the daughter of Ernest Fowle. I do remember seeing a letter from Robert E. Lee that was framed in my Uncle Bill's home in Seagirt New Jersey. I assume that is the same letter. Ernest Fowle passed away just a few years ago and lived to the ripe age of 88. He was the last of the Fowle clan to go. I always joke because my name now is Haddock....so I went from chicken to fish. Very interested in Civil War history and the Fowle name.
