Hello. I happened on your post. DHM Fowler b. MS was my gggrandfather, son of Wilkerson/Wilkisson/Wilkes/WJ Fowler b. Tennessee. I have not been able to locate Wilkerson's parents, only that he was born in TN. His wife was Elizabeth Lann/Land, and there are many good records re her family: slave holdings, wills, etc. Wilkerson signed the probate doc for her father which I have. Elizabeth marked an X meaning she could not write. The Lanns still live in Aberdeen, MS and own a hardward store there. DHM is definitely Wilkerson's youngest son. DHM's three brothers Leonidus B., George T., and William W. all veterans of the American Civil War. DHM went to live with his sister Mary Lamon (nee Fowler) for reasons unknown (hence he is shown in their household). I suspect Wilkerson was dead. I have been to Aberdeen, MS and located many records in the courthouse. I can send you some if you reply with your email address. I have not been able to make the connection with William H. and John W. Fowler, altho I know they patented land at the same time in MS, as the Chickashaw Indians made treaty. Hi, my father, Charles Richard Fowler, was born in Kingston, Ontario, March 3, 1901 to Francis and Sarah (Campbell) Fowler. He died when I was 10 and I don't know any relatives from his side of the family. I'm new to genealogy and searching.

Sorry on your name error, Bruce. Robt. Young was a favorite tv show actor in 50's. My age show'g. Just got back from several days of geneal. record hunt in Barbour Co. (sero results), Marion Co., & Hacker's Creek. The Libr. around cor of corthouse in Fairmont, Marion Co. had special geneal. room where we found more data on line of PHEBE ELLEN KING b. 1848 who m. John Henry Hardman b. 1848. Both born Marion, & grt gr parents of our line. Phebe dropped her 1st name early in life. Only found her by going page by page in all Harrison & Marion Co. census sheets. Also, one of their sons born in Barbour Co. but registered in Marion Co, & stated as such in official records (by traveling M.D. court clerk theorized). Last yr. went to Clarksburg courthouse w/o much luck.

Tx you Robert! Now know Edith DAVIS was a Bice too! The Bice originally were in NJ before VA. Do you know of the HARDMAN that I am researching? Mary BICE b. abt. 1810 m. Henry whom we believe was b. 1810 s/o Daniel & Nancy FOWLER. Missing chldn names follow in on-line fam. trees after Henry's b. so it could be that there were more Hardman/Bice marriages. Have only marr. cert for them, & many of their children's records that name them. Really get stymied by other Henry Hardman/Mary Hardman in VA/WV but finally getting handle on them. Believe our Henry's line in Rockingham Co. before Harrison Co. but did not live in the later Lewis Co. w/all the other Hardman.

Any help appreciated. I think it was Edith Hardman that lived w/Israel & Edith Davis on 1860 census after her mother Mary presumably died. Henry her dad was not on 1850 census w/rest of family. Believe he died when youngest child John was two or even in time before John's birth. Peter, 15, is listed as oldest child. Peter had sister Nancy, 14 followed by William, Elizabeth, Susannah, Edith, & John.

If anyone has Fowler lineage who lived in Lancaster, Pa in 1840 - 1860 time period I would like to have your family information to see if I can connect my Fowler family. I have Joseph H.(Hiram) Fowler born 1845, or '46 in Lancaster. A record I've found of one of his sons states that Josephs' dad was also born there, but another son when giving in info for Josephs' death cert. stated that Josephs' dad was born in England. Joseph married in Sterling Illinois in 1870. I believe he was a railroad worker all his life. I have records of him living in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, and lived in Belen, New Mexico at the time of his death. He died in Albuquerque hospital in 1925. Anyone ? .. Thanks

I have Fowlers in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada who came to Buffalo, NY. Mathew and Letia/Setia (maiden name possibly Mahoney) were in the 1851 Canadian census with these children: Peter, Mary, Joseph and Robert. Robert settled in Alabama after living in Buffalo, NY. Robert Fowler's children were Albert; Mae Elizabeth m Goodspeed; Ella m Westcott; Mattie m Thompson; Robert m Traylor.

FOWLER - William C., of Levittown, NY on October 12, 2009, following a brief illness. Bill was a Veteran of U.S. Army First Division ("The Big Red One") He was inducted into the Army in January, 1944, and six months later was one of thousands of brave young American men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. During the next 18 months, until the end of the war in December 1945, Bill served with distinction as the First Division fought the Nazi Army in France, Belgium, Germany and Czechoslovakia. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant, and was awarded the Bronze Star with appurtenances for two occasions of Heroism in combat. After the war, Bill returned home to Brooklyn, NY. In 1950, he married Grace Marie Dauphinee. They moved to Levittown and raised six children. Bill is survived by a large and loving family who will miss his humor, intelligence and generosity. They include his children: Scott (Sherry), Eileen Kesnig (Joel), Ronald, Paul (Patty), George (Helena) and son-in-law Daniel Deacon, his brother Eugene Fowler, his sister Mildred Colli, and sister-in-law Beth Pierson, as well as nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Kathy Deacon, and grandson Eric Kesnig. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.

My father was Lawrence Fowler and to correct some misinformation his wife (my mother) was Harriett Filkins not Barnes although she had an aunt who was married to a John Barnes. As to Orestes Fowler that is the father of Fred Fowler who is the father of all of the brothers and sisters that you mention if you would like to share information I would be happy to help.

Fowler family of Jersey, Channel islands, UK

For some time I had hit a brick wall with my 2 x great grandfather - Charles Fowler. He was resident on the Channel Island of Jersey, but on all censuses he listed his birthplace as England. (The country being the only requirement for those of non- Jersey birth). When the 1911 census became available one question was " where was your father born". Although Charles was not alive in 1911, several of his children were, and listed their father's birthplace as Gravesend. When looking on the IGI for a Charles Fowler in Gravesend, I found a Charles born in 1812, the son of Kenneth Fowler and Mary Ann (maiden name not listed). Although I had Charles's year of birth as 1814, I rechecked and found it was 1813 on the 1881 census. As year of birth is calculated from stated age and Charles (from Gravesend) was born late in 1812, he would appear to be a year younger on census date (late March / early April). Given that my Jersey Charles named his first son Kenneth (an unusual name in England then - more common in Scotland), I am fairly sure I've got back another generation. Kenneth and Mary Ann had one child (Emily) in Gravesend 2 years after Charles, Two sons James and Jon in Woolwich (quite near) before Charles and an earlier child (another Kenneth in abt 1798) in Newport IOW - some distance away! My feeling is Kenneth Fowler senior may have been engaged in a trade connected with the sea if not actually a sailor. Also he might possibly be of Scottish origin. Has anyone got a Kenneth Fowler who might fit? My guess is that his year of birth would be around 1765 - 1775, assuming Kenneth born abt 1798 was first or an early child. The baptisms of children were all in Independent / Non conformist churches / chapels.

I am looking for information on C. Jackson "Jack" Fowler of South Carolina.

The census of 1880 has him listed as living in Pinckney, SC with his wife, Ellen Fowler (1859-1935).
Ellen is listed as a widow by the census of 1900.

Jack's daughter Anna Amberzine Fowler Rogers (1890-1968) was my great-grandmother. Any information you can offer on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi! My name is Roberta. I think we are cousins. Louisa Jane (Wilhite)Fowler is my ggGrandmother. Addie is my ggAunt,my great Grandmother's sister. Louisa liked to quilt. She also smoked, drank and cussed! When her husband died, after 50 years of marriage, she wouldn't let him be buried in the family cemetery.You've probably found all your information by now, but they are all buried in the Hunt-Fowler Cemetery in Emporia, Kansas. I think we have a match. My Abel B Fowler abt 1781 South Kingston RI. (Wives Mary Eddy; Harriet Gilman/Scott) Children with Mary were: Anson abt 1809 Sp Harriet?; Abigail abt 1811, sp. John E.S. Wooster; Lydia abt 1815 NY; Rev. Samuel Mills Fowler(my ancestor) born 25 July 1817 Riga Monroe County NY. Married Rosetta Tainter 10 July 1842 Lester, Livington Co. NY. Died 26 Dec 1904 Kalamazoo, MI.
Abel's two oldest sons, Anson & Samuel moved to Michigan in 1840's.
I found Abel in Riga Monroe Co in 1850 & 60 census. He was aboout 79 in 1860 and assume he died in Monroe Coounty.
Would like to hear from you for match and more info.

Looks like this Lewis was the son of James B. Fowler, J.B. looks like the son of James C. Fowler listed in the 1860 Marshall co. Tn census. I feel confident that this is the right family, with a little research I believe you can fill this family in pretty quick.

WILTON, Iowa - Ernest A. Fowler, 83, Wilton, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Muscatine Care Center, Muscatine.

Services are at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton. The Rev. Wayne Fredericksen will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Kathy Luethye and vocalists Larry and Kathy Amerine. Pallbearers are Kevin Ellsworth, Duane Fowler, David Fowler, Wayne Tompkins, Danny Skipton and Ed Ellsworth. Honorary pallbearers are Kurt Brookhart, Douglas Fowler and Larry Diamond. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.

Visitations at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
Mr. Fowler was born January 18, 1919, in Wilton, the son of John and Ethel Callahan Fowler. He married Leona M. Jarr April 6, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo.

He was employed at Russelloy Foundry, Durant, for 31 years, retiring in 1984. In early years he cared for cattle and farmed.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Brookhart and husband Richard of Wellman; a son, Albert Fowler and wife Janie of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Violet Amerine of Wilton and Ethel Phillips of Grandview; a son-in-law, Ed Ellsworth of Wilton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margaret Ellsworth; a son, Howard Fowler; a sister, Vera Peters; and two brothers, Wayne Fowler and Paul Fowler.

Mrs. Fowler was born on March 23, 1952, in Washington, the daughter of Francis and Neomia Hole Butterbaugh. She married Burton Gipple on July 3, 1970. He preceded her in death in June 1990. She later married Kevin L. Fowler on Oct. 17, 1992, in Winfield.

She was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She worked as a nurse's aide at Sunrise Terrace Nursing Home, Winfield, and she worked for Metromail, Mount Pleasant.

She enjoyed traveling and going out to different restaurants to eat. She also liked caring for her cats, growing flowers and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin of Morning Sun; three sons, Bret Gipple and wife, Dana, of Clarksville, Tenn., Jeff Gipple and wife, Missy, of Columbus Junction and Kevin Gipple of Wayland; eight grandchildren; a brother, Rodney Butterbaugh of Wellman; four sisters, Judy Pfeiffer and husband, Bill, of New London, Trudy Workman and husband, Clarence, of Bonaparte, Pam Canott of Washington and Monica Babcock and husband, Tom, of Solon; and a sister-in-law, Reene Gott and husband, Bob, of New London.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Burton; a brother, Richard; and a brother, Cary in infancy.

Hi Nancy:

Yes, this matches exactly. My husband is descended from Abel's son Anson and the Hillsdale Co/Isabella Co Michigan lines. The factoid that Abel was born in South Kngston, RI is the one I cannot substantiate. Did you get it from Judy Usher (a cousin of yours?)? I have turned up a bunch of older postings from her to various genealogy sites but cannot reach her or locate her now.

I found one Abel Fowler (born 1781) to parents who seemed to be born,lived, died in Guilford CT, descended from the immigrant-ancestor William Fowler. Guilford is all of 70 miles from South Kingston and there were cousins in RI whom they may have visited. I have not yet done any primary reserach in RI or CT but would LOVE to resolve this. Of course, I want it to be a match.

There are several other Abels of the period and there's a lot of confusing reference to them in various records I have located. See my family saga appendices for clarification.

The Abel of CT was variously listed as "unmarried", "lost", and "lost at sea". I wonder if "lost" means lost-to-the-family when he took off to find un-settled lands in NY as it opened??

This Cyprian & Olive (Lee) Stevens are my husband's G.G.G.G. grandparents. Jeff is decended from their daughter Leefee Stevens who married Dr. Thomas Fowler 7JUL1816.

I found his 1840 census info: Tymochee Twp, Crawford Co, OH listed as Syprian Stephens. He died 15Oct1847.
Olive is listed in 1850 living w/son, Moses, his family & her daughter Alva ...again misspelled Stephens in Tymochee Twp, Wyandot Co (Crawford Co was divided) Family # 437
