Hi Dave: I clicked on website of Edith Walker House... WOW your house looks wonderful! You must feel such pride and accomplishment to help preserve history! We have not been to D.C. area since 1989 -- but maybe someday we could return.
Where in southern Calif. did you live? We moved to Oregon from Escondido, CA in 1998.
Do you have a computer scanner? I was wondering if you could e-mail me the picture you have of the Fradenburg family?
Do you mind if I e-mail you directly? Please feel free to
e-mail me directly... the threads to your postings should show our e-mail addresses.
Good luck with the historic "Fair" this weekend!

Thanks for keeping touch!
LuDell,

My Mom and Dad used to visit Eureka, CA when I was very young (late 40's or early 50's) to visit some relatives or friends (I don't remember which). I wonder if it was to visit your relatives?

Here is a web page (sorry if you alredy have it) that has a lot on the Fradenburg family (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~patbauer/).

My wife and I used to live in Southern CA, but in 1997 we moved to Northern Virgina. I have jusy recently retired and am having fun working on our old Victorian (1897). The house is located in the village of Waterford, VA. Waterford was designated National Historic Landmark in the early 70's and the village is having it's 61st annual "Fair" this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (1-3 Oct). If you ever get to the Washington D.C. area please stop by and see us. I can provide more specifics if you ever get to DC. Here is a website of the Waterford Foundation and a picture of our house, the Edith Walker House (http://www.waterfordva.org/tour/high.shtml).

Great hearing from you,
Dave Godfrey

Feel free to
e-mail me about it.
I would love to see pictures, documents, etc. from the family! I also have one picture of Alonzo & Minnie when they were older -- its on a post card and is addressed to her grandson (my grandfather) Marion on the back. If you would like to see the picture I could e-mail an attachment to you with scanned photo.
I am very happy to make your "acquaintance" :-) I hope to hear from you!
LuDell,

My Grandmother was Anna Retta Fradenburg. My mother (Audrey Mae Erler Godfrey) was the second girl of Anna. The first girl (Louise Erler Adams Strother) is still alive and lives in a home in Portland, OR. I can get her address, but she is in her nineties.

I have Alonzo Fradenburg's "mustering out" papers from the civil war amd have some of his GAR medals from Washington. I have a picture of Great Grandfather Alonzo, Minnie and all of the family. I also have a picture with my Grandmother, Alonzo and Minnie by themselves (It looks like it could be a wedding picture, but I don't know).

Dave Godfrey

His daughter Ina Elvina Fradenburg married Joseph Wilson who had my grandfather Charles Marion Wilson...
I would love to hear which of the 12 Fradenburg children you come from! I am just starting to piece together my mother's family. Maybe some of what I have could be of help to you?
Hope to hear from you, LuDell Parrett

Alonzo Fradenburg was the oldest son of William Henry Fradenburg, Sr. Alonzo Fradenburg is my Great Grand Father. Alonzo was born in Lisle, Broome County, New York on 16 Oct 1842. Alonzo's Mom's name was Lydia E. Horton Fradenberg and was also born in NY c1813/14. Alonzo was in the 122nd NY Volunteers during the Civil War, homesteaded both in Nebraska and Washington state. Lydia's mothers maiden name was Elsbeary or Ellsbree (not sure). William Henry and Lydia seemed to have come from Dutchess County, NY. We believe that the family tree came from Holland, but have no proof.
Thanks,
Dave Godfrey

Alfred married Eliza. Their daughter Pricilla was born in Bath, New York. She came to Michigan with her parents soon after the close of the Civil War. Alfred and Eliza Fradenburg homesteaded land in Kalkaska County, Michigan, and cut timber, cleared land and built a log cabin. Later lived in Bellaire, Mich. Alfred died about 1912 at the age of 94 and Eliza died about 1916 at the age of 89. Alfred and Eliza were of Pennsylvania Dutch (German) descent. Daughter Pricilla married John Manney. John and Pricilla were my great-grandparents. Would like more info on Alfreds family connections.
