Charles and Addie Wright Bishop family -TN, VA, SC

I am seeking information about the family of Charles and Addie Wright Bishop. Charles was living in Jefferson County, TN in 1870. He married Addie Wright 12/21/1887. This may be the same family that is listed in the Wythe County, VA 1900 census. I am particularly interested in knowing about the daughter named Elvira listed as born in 1897 in this census and the son named Walter listed as born in 1895. Elvira may have lived in SC as an adult.

Re: Frady of Rutherford County NC

Isaac Madison Frady was a son of John Frady (b. ca. 1786/7 Culpeper Co., VA., d. 10 Jan. 1874 Rutherford Co., NC) by his unknown first wife. John was of Surry Co., NC on 1810 Census, Burke Co. 1820, then to Rutherford Co. John moved to Gilmer Co., GA shortly before 1850 with his brother George W. VA.

John was a son of Carl Simon Wrede, aka Charles Frady, who was born abt. 1754/5 in Braunschweig, Germany. A Hessian soldier in America as Carl Simon Wrede, served in Brunswick Regt. v. Rhetz. Deserted at Winchester, VA in 1781.

After deserting, took the Americanized name Charles Frady. Of Hebron Lutheran Church, Culpeper Co., VA, taxed in 1783 and 1787, deed 1790, communion 1792 with wife Barbara (surname variously as Vorete, Veraity, Frawdy, Frady).
DNA Testing

This post is to make other Frady surname researchers aware that I have completed Y-DNA testing, at the 37-marker level, with the genetic lab Family Tree DNA (on the web at www.familytreedna.com). Family Tree DNA has the “largest DNA databases in the field of genetic genealogy with 217,177 records” obtained worldwide. At this writing, based on the information available through Family Tree DNA, it appears I am the only male with the Frady surname to be tested.

I hope other Frady males (females do not carry Y-DNA markers) will join this fascinating project. Having more Frady individuals join the database will greatly enhance our understanding of how, and if, we are connected. Additionally, we should also learn more about the origins of the Frady name.

I strongly encourage testing at the 37-marker level for those that proceed. Testing more markers clarifies the generational closeness to the most recent common ancestor, for anyone you may match in the database.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require further information.

Very best regards,
Keith Frady
jkfrady@gmail.com

Doctor Clayton Brown and Sarah Frady Brown

Looking for information on relatives of Doctor Clayton Brown and Sarah Frady Brown of Polk/Rutherford/McDowell counties of NC. "Doc" Brown was born in Polk County, NC 18 Aug 1843. He married Sarah Frady in 1866. The family briefly relocated to Johnson County, Kansas in 1870, but returned to NC in 1878, and eventually settled in McDowell County. Doc and Sarah Brown had 14 children: James, John, Sank, Van, Briscoe, Will, Yates, Alice, Carrie, Hester, Amanda, Ada, Laura, and Louise.

Sarah Brown died in 1928, and Doc Brown died in 1943. All of their children are now dead. I knew one "cousin", Van Harold Brown of FL, but he is now deceased. I met a few "cousins" in the 1960's when great aunt Laura died, but do not have any contact information on them now.

My line is through Will Brown (my grandfather).

Should anyone be doing research on this family line and have any information, please e-mail me. Thank you.
Hello Francis,

I imagine your Steven was also a son of William and Jane. Another son, Hollis, was my great grandfather. I have not been able to find out who the father of William was, seems like the Frady family seemed to be rather private. We know that William came from North Carolina, but seems to be the only son of ????????? who came to Alabama.

I would be happy to have correspondence with you if you would like.

Thanks, Marcia

Hi there, I just started researching the Frady's. I saw your post concerning George W Frady. Is this the George whose parents are Thomas Hezikiah Frady and Mary L Walker? I am told that George W was aka General Frady.
I could use your help if this is the same family.
Thanks
Joann

I know this post is several years old, but hopefully someone will see it. Do you have any records of George Washington Frady and Bathsheeba? I'm descended from him, as well, and his first wife has always been a mystery to us. Feel free to contact me.

Any relation to Zebedee Harrison Frady? That's supposedly one of my GGrandfathers. I've been looking for information for awhile now. Frady is the surname that my ancestors adopted...the real name was Frede meaning peace. That's about all I know.

Thanks so much!

Brittney

In 2001 I compiled a history of my Frady-Benfield family. My line is Thomas Hezekiah - Marcus Lafayette - Thomas Leander. I would love to get more information on Miniard's family - especially pictures. I have pictures of Marcus Lafayette & Thomas Leander's family.

Would love to hear from you.

wanda30@windstream.net

I am looking for George Frady's wife, Sally Dalton who married him on 10/31/1842 in Rutherford, NC. Specifically, how old was she? Does anyone have the marriage record?

Connette Blalock
