Hi Jim,

1st, thanks for your info on Michael Fraher from the census data. You are correct-he is my ggp, but I had trouble finding his roots in Ireland. Turned out he came from Monemore, Emly Parish, Tipperary Cty, Ire.

We found this by contacting the catholic church parish priest directly, and they had records they shared, but the archdiocese would not.

Jim, let me share some thoughts that might be helpful. Ellis records begin mid 1860s. I searched Irish records thru Ancestry, Rootsweb, CMCR Project, & familysearch .org. Fraher families in the late 1800s numbered about 48 in Ireland, with most in Waterford, followed by Tipperary, Limerick and a a couple in Cork. I found no others in Ireland. Try Irish Roots, and look to connect to individual county records, but it is likely you can get good help from the church parish, if you can find the right countyparish.

You may want to contact Maureen Sullivan(Fraher), with quite a few message board postings for Frahers since at least 1998 on this board. She is from New Jersey, and has many Fraher files and records/contacts. She helped me and may help you too- as you will see, she reaches out to all Frahers...a nice lady.

Good Luck.

Jim
