Hi Shirley
Thanks for the quick response. We do not know much about the Frahms. Mom had a picture of Peter Frahm - mom's grandfather and Ida Frahm. What we do know is that Peter had a child Ida who was born about Jan 1874. She married Peter Dall(B:April 1872) but not sure what year they got married. Had 12 chidren in this order:Myrtle, Elmer, Lester, Violet, Raymond, Lydia, Grace, Harold, Clarence, Mildred, Melvin and Ralph. All the children were born in Milwaukee, WI and I do have the census records for 1880, 1900, 1905,1910, 1920 & 1930.

Mom does't remember much of the Frahms but she did give me a death notice for an Alvina Frahm who may have been a sister of Ida's. Alvina was a school principal in Milwaukee and retired from teaching in 1934. Don't believe she was ever married.

Hope some of this info is helpful. You can alawys contact me at bigdm@wi.rr.com Thanks again for taking time to help in our search.
Don Miller...aka bigDM

I know that she Married John Loof who was also from Germany. they had about 5 children one of who is my direct relation Henry Loof. I know that Katie was born abt 1844 and that John Loof was born about 1838. I don't have any other information and saw this post and thought that perhaps we might have a connection.
Sorry it's taken so long to respond but here are the names of the family line I'm researching:
Christina (Krystyna) Frehm/Frahm/Fraem born approx 1833 from Tartarkiemis, Lithuania married Georg Schmidtke in 1851...Anna Frehm daughter of Andraus and Marie Frehm Klug born 19 July 1879..Josef Frehm confirmed (they were about 11 or 12 at confirmation) son of Ludwig Frehm and August Plikajtys (??)..Justyna Frehm born 1850 daughter of Fryderyk Frehm and Scarlotta....Marie Frehm born approx 1870 daughter of Andres Frehm and Marie Klug. The records we have are from Roscruny ..Tartarkiemie....Autoville...Skardupchen...and these cities were part of East Prussia.. now Lithuania ...on the Eastern border...The family connects with Schmidtkes (my gg grandfather Georg and Christina Frehm Schmidtke)...there are no family in the area now and we know that some migrated to the US. Christina died 19 May 1900 and we assume she and gg grandfather probably lived with one of their two daughters. The boys migrated to Detroit and Salt Lake City and one went to Brazil. I know I've probably given you more information than you want or need but some of the Frehm family lived in the surrounding areas. Please get back if any of this is connected to your group. Thanks Roxanne Udy

Not sure about the Frahm side. I really don't think there are any Madaus/Madouse in Pa. It is correctly spelled Madaus. I had 2 Great Uncles Will and Fred that thought they were above the rest of the family and changed their names legally. The Madaus family came from Minten Brandenburg, Germany. They arrive in the states in 1880 and settled in the Burlington, Wi. area. The origional Madaus homestead t owned is in Slades Corner, Wi and is in its 5th generation of Madaus farming it. Otto Madaus, Minnies brothers Grandson is running it. He is the son of Willard/Marion Madaus. I am the Granddaughter of Louis Madaus, who was the baby of the children, there were 10 children in all. Parents were Christian and Mary ne: Bull. The majority of the Madaus/Frahm family are buried in St. John's Luthern Church Cemetary, Slades Corner, Wi. Alot of our family history isin the archives of the church. Also you can go to burlingtons genealogy web site for info too. You can check out my family tree which is Matejovsky-Papousek-Borck-Madaus. I don't have all family info in yet, but if you think we are related I will gladly forward info to you
Shirley

Nifty. I do not know if there is a relation or no unfortunately. All that I know about John E. Frahm is that he was born in Germany in 1853 and died in 1917. I know that he had at least one daughter named Hilda who was born in 1892 in Iowa. Sadly, I do not know of any other siblings that Hilda or her father may have had.
Regretfully, I do knot know which part of Germany John was born in. If you have anything that would indicate that he might be related, then I am more than willing to open up a conversation.

I know that John had at least one daughter named Hilda Frahm who lived from 1892 to 1958 and married Edward Langholdt. If you believe that you might be related, please feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks!

Dan-
Thank you for your posting. Do you know where in Lithuania your ancestors were from? We are finding our Frahm/Frehm/Fraem/Fromm relatives in a very small town called Tartarkiemie, Lithuania, which is near (now) Vistytis. I'd be glad to share all we've found so far, if we're in the same family! Roxanne

Re: William Frahm and Minnie Madaus

Minnies parents are Christian Friedrich Johann Madaus, born 2-27-1852 in Mentin Brandenburg Germany. He married Maria (mary) Sophia Bull her birth is 2-26,1852 also in Germany. They came to America about 1880 with three children William, Minnie and Fred, one daughter Annie died in Germany. Once here in America they had Otto, John, Mary and Louis (he is my grandfather). another daughter Augusta was born 9-28, 1887 and died 6-8-1892 being only 4 yrs. 8 mos. and 10 days old. The majority of the Madaus's are buried in the Luthern Cemetary in Slades corner. I would love to have info on the
Frahm family for my research. I remember a Grandson of (I think) Ed Frahm who use to bring a grandson with them I think his name is Joel to Anna & Louis Madaus's farm on Hwy 36 just outside Lake Geneva, Louis being Minnies brother. Also Edward Frahm stood up to their wedding June 1, 1916. I have alot more info and would love to share if you would like. Sincerely Shirley

Rumor has it, he sold his land in Germany and
left for America, after an order was given to him, that he
had to have permission from the Kaiser to hunt on his own land.
He fathered 11 children through two wives (sisters) and is buried at a country Lutheran church near Kiron Iowa.

Possible FRAME / FRAHM & Var. Surname Connection

Research into the origins of the FRAME surname has revealed it was almost certainly influenced by Osulf fil Frame (or Frane), Lord Belvoir du Plessis, thegn to King Edward the Confessor. The surnames DE FRAMÉ and LE FRESNE (pron. Frane) were found in Calvados, Normandy, less than 70 miles apart. Each was even nearer to Le Plessis-Grimoult, the fortification last held by Osulf’s son, Grimoult du Plessis, in 1047. The proximity is close enough to suggest a shared provenance between these families in Normandy, and for this reason the FRAME DNA PROJECT has been extended to include the surnames:-

DE FRAMÉ, FRAEME, FRAHM, FRAIM, FRAIME, FRAM, FRAME, FRAMINGHAM, FRAMLINGHAM, FRAMPTON, FRAMSDEN, FRAYM, FREAM, FREAME, FROAM, DE FRAINE, DE FREYNE, FRAIN, FRANE, FRANEY, FRAYN, FRAYN, FREAN, FREEN, FREENEY, FRENEY, FRESNE, FREYNE, or any other variants thought to have evolved from these names.

The aim is to use Y-DNA testing to determine which of the variant surnames relate to a common ancestor. DNA testing for genealogy purposes is more economical through a surname DNA project such as this, rather than as an individual. Any males by natural descent carrying any of the above surnames or variants are most welcome to join the Frame DNA project.

Further information on Osulf fil Frame and/or DNA testing may be obtained at: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/f/frame/

Best regards,

Julie Frame Falk
Gordon Hamilton
Frame DNA Project
Co-Administrators
I'd be happy to provide you with a copy of the family tree. It is a chart and quite large. My cousin Martin Jannsen has an original copy and if he would get it copied at Kinko's or somewhere, it would be better than a copy of my third or fourth generation Xerox copy. He probably needs to make copies anyway for our July family reunion.
At the top of the tree is Hinrich Frahm, no dates, whose eldest son Peter Frahm, our direct ancestor, was born in 1773. It has all of Hinrich's descendants down to 1893, which is why it is so wide.
I'll ask Marty about this and get back to you. There's an e-mail address on the printout of yourmessage to me. I assume that it's yours. I'll get back to you on that. Feel free to contact me at my e-mail address, ewfield@att.net.
This may take awhile. When's Father's Day?
Also, my mother used to refer to an Else Frahm that she knew. That could have been Herman's wife. Else is Elsie in German. Or she could be a cousin in Germany. I don't know, but one of my cousins may. All but one of them are older than I.
Thanks for replying.

Ellie
