Can anyone tell me anything about Anna Marie Charlotte Franc who was born in 1888 and married William J. McDonald on 24 Aug 1918. She dies in Chicago, Cook, Il on 25 Oct 1946.
William seems to have disappeared completely. I can not find either of them in the 1920 or 1930 census or SS death records.

Franc / France

After nearly 30 years of family research, my dad recently casually mentioned that he was once told that our name was once spelled Franc. Sigh. My brick wall is George France (listed below). This is based on transcribed cemetery records in the library; the cemetery is gone & so are the real records.

George France (Franc) was from NC; his son Warrick A. France was born in Little Rock, AR; William G. France (son of Warrick) was b. near Boonville, IN; Nathan P. France (son of William G.) was b. near Boonville; Gordon A. France (son of Nathan P.) was b. in Marion, IN; Richard G. France (son of Gordon) - that's me - was born in Anderson, IN.

So does this resonate with anyone? or does anyone has suggestions? I can provide additional detail if helpful.

Rick France (maybe formerly Franc), in Indy.

Franc/Frank

I have been looking up the name of Frank until recently-the shock has now worn off to find information on Ludwig Franc. and not Ludwig Frank! He is related on my mothers side of the Franks. He was born in 1872 and died in his first battle in 1914. He was a politician and belonged to the Social Demoncratric Party in Germany. He became one of their leaders.
I would like to get to know his cousins or anyone that knew him. I received from LOC information about him that I never knew.
I know that he never got married. I would like to find out how my family is related to him.

social Demoncractic Party.
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, I am looking for Francs(plural) so we're probably not looking in the same area. There is a Jewish link and the East End of London figures quite strongly in my search.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply and good luck.
From an equally dreary Essex

Carole

My interest is in FRANC - singular.
Almost certainly they were Huguenots from France.
I am starting to resurrect my genealogy research as there are many more people actively working. I had already promised my records taken from the registers in London to another lady - some time ago and will certainly get around to it soon.
The forenames of Solomon Raphael would suggest a Jewish link and there are certainly some Jewish records in some of my research.
I do not think there is an immediate link, but will have a look and see if the names occur.
Having said all this - I presume you are looking for information in the UK?
Form a wet and cold North Wales

Alan

I am interested in any info that will link Franc
to Alsace or the area between Germany and France.
This is the area of the world I can link my ancestors
back to 1581. There I reach a stone wall. I suspect
a link to Sebastion Franc, the famous Swiss minister
but I have no proof as yet. As Alsace is next to Switzerland
there was probably considerable travel between the
two areas.
Sam Franc

I had always heard that the early memebers of the family were Huguenots. I would be delighted to have the information you have aquired. The Franc family in the US is fairly extensive. Many family members are in Pa, CA in addition to many other states.

My father was Stanley George Franc born in Penn. USA. In the old family bible the name is spelled Franc and France all in the same family. Stanley was born in PA in 1899 and died in 1972. George Franc was married to Bertha Polley who was of British decent. Her family came to US very early on. I remember some entries in the family Bible about an Issiac Franc and an Abraham Franc - I think they were brothers. Do you know the name of the brother who migrated from Germany or the UK. I always understood that the family had migrated from the UK.
