I haven't gotten that far yet. As far as I know the Fankhousers who marry into my Carlile family were from born in OH, although in one census it indicates VA as a place of birth for William. In 1880 there were two Frankhouser families living in Shawnee Co., KS; Henry in Tecumseh, and William in Topeka. In 1895 KS State Census, both families had moved to Russell Co., KS and are listed on the same page 7. There is another Frankhouser family (N. P. and A. L. Frankhouser) listed on P 8 of the KS State Census in Ruissel Co., and, although N. P. is listed as born in OH, his wife and children are all listed as born in West Virginia. I suspect all three families are related. My William Frankhousr moved to Haviland, Kiowa Co., KS at some point, and most of the boys went into the furniture store or other store sales business as did William.

I have not tracked down the Henry or N. P. Frankhousers, yet, but suspect that N. P. Frankhouser's first name is Nicholas. I received this message last year when doing some checking on this family:

"William Fankhouser was my great-grandfather. He married Mary Matilda Carlile February 3, 1875. They had 6 children, 5 sons and one daughter, who died in infancy. His sons were: Lin (Leonard?), Lum (probably the Columbus you refer to), Walter, Curt and Albert (my grandfather). Sue Fankhouser-Conn, Lum's daughter, put together a family history some years ago. If you want to send me your mailing address, I'll copy it and send it to you. The history begins with a letter from Nicolaus Fankhauser to his family in Switzerland after his immigration to the US in 1819. All the brothers, except Albert, stayed in Haviland, Ks. There were 2 groups in Haviland, the "A"s and the "O"s (Fankhauser and Fankhouser). My Mother said the little newspaper in Haviland never got it wrong. Albert moved to the Oklahoma Panhandle and farmed, as did my father and his brother. I remember my grandfather telling me I was related to the Carliles at Liberal, KS." So far I have not heard back from Pat
