I am trying to trace the forebears, and any present day
persons, related to a Benjamin Frankland who on the
10th june 1844 was convicted of larceny in a public
dwelling, I think at Greenwich. He was sentenced to
transportation to Tasmania Australia, for a period of
10 years by the Central City Court London on this day.
He embarked from England on the 29th July 1844 aboard
the ship the William Jardine and arrived at Launceston
Tasmania on the 20th Nov 1844,He later married a fellow
convict, Margaret Sullivan, and moved to mainland
Australia, to the town of Daylesford in central Victoria.
At conviction, he was about 25 yrs old meaning he would
have been born around 1819, he had three chidren,Henry,
Hannah and John ,any help greatly appreciated ,his trade
was listed as, Carpenter / Shipright.
