Frear Family

Hi my name is Keihla Frear and i am searching for family that im sure I have because I know nobody from the side my last name comes from. :-( My grandfather is Harry Frear who is still alive and is my ONLY link to the 'Frear'. He had/has a half sister named Jewell Frear who may or may not be alive/married/kids etc... His parents, my Great-Grandparents were named Margery (Bennett)Frear & Russell Frear. Russell Frear is said to have 5 siblings: Jessie Frear(female), Mary Frear, John Frear, Frank Frear, and Perce/Purse/Perse Frear. I don't know if any ever married or had kids etc, but there is a good chance some did! My grandfather was raised with his sister in Cheyenne, WY... he thinks his dad and siblings of his dad were raised in Kansas. My grandfather was born around 1933 to give you a date range. If you know anything or anyone please contact me!

This might be a Frear family lead.

Found a period framed picture of an attractive young (30ish) lady dressed like Mary Todd Lincoln and same hair style. Nice clothes, jewelry and lace. Looks well to do and period 1850-60. On back is written Fanny ?Turuay? sister to Alfred Frear (hard to read could be Frear) then underneath that ?Stourbridge?

Does anyone know these names or can clarify the spelling and/or who this might be?

I am trying to find information or any relatives that might have known Frank Frear and family. They lived in Alta Iowa in the 1950;s on. He was my grandfather. My dad LeRoy Frear was a son, and he had two other brothers and one sister. From what I remember, the boys names were Glen and Lyle and the sister's name was Gladys. I know that Glen Frear moved to Missouri, as we use to visit them there.
I am really interested in finding surviving members of the Frank Frear clan, or information would help to. Both of my parents now gone, so hard to find out this information about family Hope someone can help me out on this

Sincerely

Linda (Frear) Hladky

Jacqueline,
You might want to look at Canadian records. I am thinking this because many of those who went early to Canada, later went to the south of the US (like Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas). Some of those records may be in French. These people were known as Arcadians and later the Cajuns.

Jacqueline,
Bonjour..
The Freer/Frear family that came to the US originally spelled the name Frere and they came in the late 1600s to the New Amsterdam/New York colony. Hugues Frere was from Herly en Boulogne or the area of Normandy. I apologize if my spelling is bad. I have also found the name in the church records in Amiens. Before they came to America, they went to Germany. They were also Huguenots (Calvinists). I have not seen your family's name among our records, but that is not to say it is not possible.

Hello.

I have find your address on Ancestry.com. I am French and my name is Freyard. I do genealogical research on my family.
I have find my ancestors in France until the year 1700. They were living in the city of Rennes (west part of France). In the olds parish records, and registers of births my name is also spelled Frayard, Fréart, Frayart, Fraiart, Freiard, Fréard and Freillard !!!
I wonder if some of my ancestors have migrated to America. On the web, I have read the “Diary of William Gready Hope”, it is mentioned a Hiram Freyard. This man was living in Mississipi and Texas at the 19e century, but I don’t know if him or his ancestors were originating from France.
Are the families Frear, Frayer … of America migrating from France ?
The Frears … are they the same family or related to the Freyard ?
It is difficult for me to do research on the American documents, my english is not very good. So if you think you might be able to help me on my research, I would be very grateful.

Jacqueline.Freyard-Moy

jacqueline.freyard-moy@wanadoo.fr

New Freer-Low Family Geneaologist

Hi all,
I have recently been appointed the genealogist for the Freer-Low Family Association. This association focuses on the Freer family that settled in New Paltz, New York and has Huguenot roots. There are a variety of spellings to the family, FRERE, FREER, FRAER, FREAR, FRAYER, ETC. Teresa Wilson has recently retired from this position. I'd like to thank her for all the hard work she has done.
>
If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me at freergenealogy@ameritech.net. I will do look-ups in the published genealogies, some basic searches, and try to point you in the right direction. We all have brickwalls, and sometimes it takes an extra pair of eyes to tear those bricks down.

My family was among the "Michigan" bunch that emigrated to Jackson County, and beyond. I have quite a few details on the branches from Michael FRAER (b. 1785), and again the information down to Hugo.

My current focus and easiest to research due to accesibility are the families that have settled in Wisconsin and Michigan as well as the civil war.

The Association has mentioned the desire to publish a new genealogy, so we need everyone's assistance to update your families.

I am also the administrator of the Freer list and board at Rootsweb and have just requested to adopt this message board.

Happy hunting,
Chris
>
My name is William H. Low. I am a member of the Dutchess County Genealogical Society No. 1820. I have traced back to John M. Low who was reportedly born 3 Feb 1754 In Kingston, N Y, son of Cornelis Low and Sarah Provoost. I have seen the record of that birth, but there were so many John and Johannes Low born around that time in N Y. I would like to prove which one is valid. My John M Low lived in Poukeepsie and he and wife Jane Vonk Low had several children born there. I came accross info that he died in Poukeepsie on 4-16- 1828. My question if there is a record of that death and if there is a tombstone and date of birth on it. I would like to dig further into that family. Land owwnership and occupation. Their son who i descend from was Dr Nathan M. Low born there on 11 27 1801 and moved to Elizabeth, Indiana about 1826. Also wonder where he got his education to become a Dr. Any help or adice to proceed would be appreciated.

Bill Low
Braadenton, Fl

I, too, am searching for information on this particular Nauman family. More specifically, John Nauman. John was born about 1800/1810 in Pennsylvania. He died after 1890 in Dunn County Wisc. I don't know the name of his first wife. But his second wife, Julia (Baker) Culp, he married in 1870.

The church papers for his marriage to Julia (Baker) Culp lists his parents' names as Michael Nauman and Catrine (Cathrine?).

I would enjoy chatting with you about this Nauman family and possibly exchanging some info.

I am still very interested in Edward August Frear, married to Augusta (Lennon) Frear I believe around Troy, NY. They had four girls, Helena Woodbury Frear (Hatt) - my ggrandmother, Clara Frear (Francis), Abigail Frear (Sanford) and May Frear (Mitchell). Helena was born May 18, 1887. Not sure if she was born in Mass or NY. Records confusing. Any of this ring a bell?
Thanks for any information you may have. Sharon

I was told they were married in Troy, NY and I've tried just about everything to find them. Their daughter (Helena) was my great grandmother, whom I do remember when I was a child. My information stops with Helena. ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated to get me started in the right direction again.
Again, thanks so much for responding to my request.
