We have now found quite a lot - she lived and married in Muiravonside, Stirlingshire and reputedly died in Cheshire, 1939. We would be interested to know more about her death, when so young, as she was married to my husband's father (died before he married husband's mother). A tragedy when so young and recently married. It was never spoken about.

If you're on facebook...please join "eureka, Utah" and feel free to add ancestry photos and stories from the area. For fun, I looked for a page upon my return from Eureka and found nothing...so I started one.

I just wonder if the home is still standing...but I don't have the exact address. The home was purchased for Martha by by the miners of the Tintic region after her husband Edward Koyle died in 1902. Martha began an adulterous relationship with Tim Desmond abt 1904/5 (who already had a family in SLC). As the story goes, Tim induced her to sell the home. He pocketed money and took off. He was arrested by Sheriff Whitehead (Martha's Uncle) and jailed in the old jail in Eureka and escaped the night before his trial. Apparently, he was the only one to ever escape from there. I was given a tour of the jail in the basement while in Eureka last week.

On Dec 24th, 1906 (according to a news article) Martha gave birth to twins by Tim and abandoned them along with her other 5 children. I'm a descendant of one of those children. Fascinating story...I'm always looking for more. Thanks for reading.

Hi,

I'm a descendant of Mrs. John O Freckleton. According to her journal she bought several homes during this time, all of which in the same area. I live 30 minutes from Eureka, and I happen to be doing a lot of geneology for the Freckleton's right now. If you have more information I would be happy to go there and see if it still stands. Also, I'll see if I can find out which of her houses your ancestor sold her.

I found this post and figured it was a long shot but here goes- My ancestor Martha (Koyle) Coyle lived in Eureka until June of 1906 when she sold her home (purchased for her by miners after the death of Edward Koyle) to Mrs. John O. Freckleton. I've looked at the 1910 census and I see that there weren't exact addresses yet but it says 'Church Street East alley' and the news article of the sale says upper Main street. I'm wondering if anyone has a photo of this home or knows if it's still there?

Hi,

I am trying to research my husband's side of the family and have reached a hitch. Hy husband's mum doesn't seem to know anything about her father other than he was called JOHN STANLEY ROBIN FRECKLETON born approx 1898 and died approx 1964. He married Florence Mary Asher in 1930 and lived in Southhampton, Hants, UK.

Apparently he originally came from Liverpool and he was a merchant seaman.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks
Re....search

I have researched a number of genealogical sites to try and locate the origin of my surname for ancestoral purposes, and it appears that the majority of Freckletons' I found largely eminated from England. Please tell me if otherwise.

I was born December 15,1966 in a town east of Toronto, East York, I have no info on my birth parents, ie: was my mother's or father's name Freckleton.Nor do I have an exact time of birth. This search is becoming rather frustrating to say the least. I will keep trying, so, if any Freckletonians out there who can give me info on one or all of my queries, please feel free to e-mail me @:
rikkalan@hotmail.com
