Swedish Church Records

I have been working with the new church records and am finding a lot of useful information. But, I do have a problem. I don't read Swedish. I have looked up a few words and the names and dates are not a problem but the rest I can't figure out. It doesn't help that penmanship in those days was as bad as it is today.

Can anyone help out? I can post an image if you don't have direst access.

Andrew: So sorry I didn't recognize your name. I haven't spoken to your folks in ages. Are you still living in the Twin Cities? Your grandfather and my dad were brothers and were extremely close. In fact, they used to talk to each other almost daily, particularly when the Twins were playing. It is fitting that their graves are so close together at Ft. Snelling. Your dad is close to the road, and my dad is directly up from him at the top of the hill. Anders Quick Anderson was your grandfather's grandfather, from what I can tell. He was born August 12, 1830 and he was killed by a train on April 6, 1905 . According to my dad's notes, this accident happened by 1025 Main St. SE (10th Avenue bridge near University). My cousin, Bunny (daughter of Vic, Ray's and my dad's brother), is getting into the family history in a big way. Most of the info I have is from the Anderson side of the family (Alma's side). Bunny, though, has found relatives on the Freeburg side (your grandfather's dad's family). When I was younger, it seemed we (my mom and dad, Pearl and Ray, Bucky, Rilla, Raynelle, Vic and Ethel, Bunny and Ronnie) saw each other more frequently. It's so unfortunate that the next generation down from us really does not know each other very well. We do not keep in close contact, as we should. Say hello to your mom and dad for me. I'm in the phone book, so give me a call if you're inclined.

Anders Fredrick (Quick) Anderson was my great grandfather. Quick was his military name. From the sketchy information I have, he was born August 12, 1830 in Ostergatland, Sweden (home near Norrkaping and Linkaping, Sweden. He was killed by a train in Minneapolis, MN on April 6, 1905. His wife, Anna Christina Anderson, was born October 17, 1833 and died July 24, 1920. They are both interred at Crystal Lake Cemetery in North Minneapolis, MN. They had 10 children: August, Alma Aninya Freeburg(my grandmother), Selma, Axel and Oscar came to America. Julia, Augusta, Christina, Carl, A.F. Frid stayed in Sweden. Honestly don't know if these names are correctly spelled.

My grandparents are: Alma Aninya (sp?) Anderson and Lars Gunnar Freeburg. My father was Gunnar Alvin Freeburg.

My cousin, Delores (Bunny) Freeburg, and I would love to have more information. We must be related. Who are your parents and where are you from? Would love an email response.

Thanks!
Andrew Larson Freeburg, b Gottenburg. Sweden

Does anyone have any info on Andrew Larson Freeburg? He was b. 1821 in Gottenburg, Sweden. His wifes name was Maria or Christeen Andrewsdaughter? He had 13 children. We have pictures of them and their children, but are at a dead end on the family tree. Childrens names are: Lena, Christina, Augusta, Josephinia, Wilheminia, Matilda, Sophia, Fred, Alfred, and August Freeburg. Some of the pictures were taken at Newman Grove, Nebraska. They may have lived in South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska at different times. It is believed they came to the US in the mid to later 1800's with their children. Thanks, Dianne Kimbler

Uncle Stanley ("Cap") Freeburg

Stanley,

Your father was my dad's oldest brother. He had a ranch out at Seneca, NM (I believe). Nettie Ruth Freeburg (now married to J. D. Bunch in Boulder, CO) probably knows more of the history of your dad than I do. She grew up on a ranch near Seneca with her mother and dad Justin Freeburg (brother just younger than your dad) . . . I am sorting through some family pictures (Wesley Freeburg (his father was Charles) Patchin (his mother was Nettie and had an identical twin sister Nellie and ) pictures and papers on dad's side and Hickam and Oglethorpe on Lola Freeburg's side).

I wish you every success in your venture to trace your family routes. Please e-mail me or write me your address so I can send you any pictures or family information while sorting through boxes of papers. My dad died in Denver in 1981, and my mother died in Grapevine, TX in 1990 and is buried beside my father in Denver. My address is: Ramona Day, 1920 Park Place Boulevard, #1305, Bedford, TX 76021 (telephone 817-545-6955). Merry Christmas and have a blessed new Milleneum!

search for grandfather''s burial sight

My grandfather was Stan Freeburg and homesteaded in Union Co. in Calyton, NM. His death was in 1960 and was buried in the cemetary and the Union Chapel, I think. I cannot find records that indicate where this place is or how to find it.
