Hi Aubrina,

I feel like we have chatted but maybe not. I have a lot of information on the Freeburns and you can start here:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

I have successfully traced the Glyn (Glen) family also back through the Kyn (Keen's) who go back to Joran Keen who came to New Sweden in 1643. Here is my other website on the Keens

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wjohn55447...

and Freeburns

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wjohn55447...

If you have any questions I would be glad to help in any way that I can.
My mistake. I didn't mean Thomas, I meant Bill. I wasn't aware Bill was married, nor did I know about Davie. I'm afraid my Father is not the most communicative person in the world and didn't mention him.

As far as our side of the family are concerned i.e. James Freeburn's offspring.

James (my grandfather) married Meg Crowe.

Frank (his oldest son married Eleanor McKinlay (from Glasgow) no children - Frank died last year aged 74

Thomas (next oldest - my father) married Peggy Dowie (from Greenock) 3 children - me, Alison, May

Billy (married Ada Middleton) one daughter - Margaret.

Mae - married Thomas Elliott - four children - James, Thomas, Ann, Carol

George -married Fay Emerson - two children Edward and Fay.

I am afraid you are wrong about the children of George and Bessie Freeburn. My mother was the child of William (Bill) and Phia Freeburn who was brother of those listed in your email. My mother is currently living here in Michigan. You also forgot her Uncle Davie who came to America to live before we did. My mom and I go back to the "Port" every year and hopefully will be back in November 2008. I keep in contact with my cousin who was Davie's granddaughter. Davie married Lizzie Johnston.

My 2 sisters and I were born in Port Glasgow and came to the states in 1956. I would love to hear what you info you have on the family. My cousin is trying to put together a family tree.

Children: George had sons as well as daughters.

There was no Thomas, did you mean Frank who died at a young age.

I can clarify things a bit.

The district mentioned is "Port Glasgow" in the County of Renfrew. Scotland

I can be absolutely certain as George Freeburn (baker) was my Great Grandfather. Elizabeth McNeil i.e my great Grandmother was from the Isle of Islay.

Their surviving children were George, Thomas, Elizabeth, and James (my Grandfather)

Tommy never married - Elizabeth (known as Lizzie) never had any children.

George had two daughters - Rose and Mary.

James had four sons and one daughter. May, Frank, William, George, and Thomas - (my father)

Hi,

I know there is a connection between Hill Freeburn and the Daniel Freeburn who lived in Southwark Twp., Philadelphia in 1825 but cannot be absolutely sure. In my research I found that my relative Daniel Freeburn (son of Hill & Martha Glen Freeburn) was living in Southwark Twp. in 1809. This is stated on an Indenture that lists him as a "smith" in "Southwark Twp." Daniel was a blacksmith by trade. Here is my website discussion on this question:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wjohn55447...

Just copy and type this into your address bar and it should take you to my website. The general address is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wjohn55447...

The reason I was asking for anyone who might have access to Will abstracts is to see if this Daniel left a will in Philadelphia. If he did it might mention his parents or other brothers. There is also a James Freeburn living there in 1825. I will gladly and freely share any Freeburn information that you might want. Most is already posted on my website and on ancestry.com. Thanks for replying and I hope we can chat further. Thanks.

Bill Johnson, SAR
Plymouth, MN

P.S. Hill is my Sons of the American Revolution ancestor.

I may be wrong but I was led to believe that our surname was of English origin, Norfolk/Suffolk to be more accurate and it is a derivation of all the names starting with free.ie. Freeman, Freebairn etc, I am not clued up on my family history,I am the eldest of 5 children, my father is William Freeburn one of 13 Freeburns born to Alexander Freeburn and his wife was Lizzie. , my mother Betty McKie. Most of my dad's siblings are now dead although a few still survive.

I am looking for information on Francis and Bridget Freeburn, who were pioneer settlers of Smith Twp, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. I believe that Francis was born in Ireland circa 1790 and that Bridget was born in Ireland in 1796. I believe that they may be the parents of my great-grandfather, George Freeburn. Any other information about them would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

I was interested in your message because of the similarities of the names - George and James Francis Freeburn. A James Freeburn married Mary Jane ? in St.John, N.B.in the 1800s and had at least two sons, Francis and Johnstone. Johnstone died in the Sandwich Islands in the mid-1800s, but Francis settled and died in Australia. Two of his sons were called James and George. Do you know the names of the parents of George Freeburn?
