As the administrator of the Freed Surname DNA Project (www.familytreedna.com/public/Freed), I note that a DNA study would certainly be valuable to determine the ancestral DNA line from which this Freed family descends.

I note that the John Friedt (who was born abt 1800 in PA, and if I am interpreting the information correctly), had four sons: Jacob Friedt (born abt 1824 in PA, who had one son John b. abt 1856 in IN); G. Freidt, (male, b. abt 1831 in OH); S. Freidt, (male b. abt 1839 in OH); and David Freidt (b. abt 1849 in OH).

If any currently living Freed (Friedt, etc.) named male can trace his ancestry to one of these four sons of John (b. ca 1800 in PA), he would be a prime candidate for DNA studies.
