Freese as a surname

Here goes nothing. I'm curious about the surname Freese, my mother's maiden name. I know very little, except that in the late 1800s or early 1900s, my grandparents, Ernst Freese and Luise Christine Simon (pronounced Simone)Freese left Germany and ended up in Sioux Falls, S.D.
I have a family history of sorts, but it concentrates on the non-Freese branch of the family, with Freese mentioned only as an afterthought.
As far as I know, all U.S. ancestors are from South Dakota or Minnesota.
Does that ring a bell with anyone?
Don't feel guilty if it doesn't. To my knowledge, two cousins and I are the last of the line. One cousin has two adult offspring. That's it. Even a shirttail relative would be welcome. It's sad when a family line runs out.
Any legitimate replies will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
