Re: Johann Jakob Frei 1852 Baltimore/MD

Verena,
I know that your posting is almost five years old and you may have already found the information you are looking, but are you still seeking information about Johann Jakob Frei who was born on the 23 July 1779 in Eichstetten? I think I located some Eichstetten church records about him while I was doing some research of the Danzeisen families in Eichstetten, as the Frei and Danzeisen family lines cross over to each other.
It looks like Johann Jakob Frei was married twice – first to Katharina Josslin and then to Maria Kehl.
Christian’s mother was Katharina Josslin and he was born 28 Oct 1820. Christian married Christine Frei a couple of years prior to their departure for the US.

I am not sure if this fully fits what you are looking for or not.
Fortunatus J. Frei

This is my great grandfather and I found his name in the 1900 federal census, but am unable to read his wife's name. Is there anyone that might see if they are listed in the Ohio State census of 1900 and perhaps tell me if you can read his wife's name. He married the next year after his wife died, so it is important that I find out the name of his second wife. They may have had some children that we don't know about.
He was born in Italy of Swiss parents in 1846. I know this is the correct person. I sure would appreciate some help on this. It is on page 58 page 1A on the federal census for Marion OH.
Many thanks,
Joanne Sutherland
gammyjo@dockpoint.net

One of these families settled in Fisher and Hopedale, Illinois near Champaign.

There is another Horsch family that came from Mortelstein, which is about 8 miles north of Obergimpern. They settled in Wright County, Minnesota.

I would be interested in getting more information on the Horsch families you have in your genealogy.

Dave Hein

They left Obergimpern in 1853, and lived in Mich. for three years, then moved to Central Illinios. Surnames in my family are, Baer, Frei, Landiss, Horsch, Mussleman, Fellman, Hodel, Funk, Schmitz. These names are all surnames before 1853. Would like to share information.

HI, i think i may be of some relation to the people you mentioned in your request. My grandfathers name was Vernon Morseman which is the "americanized" version of one of his grandfathers which his last name was Mossemann. His first name was Peter and to make a long story short, they came from switzerland with himself, his wife, and his many children in the early 1800's. I remember some of his childrens name; Johnny, annie marie, and that ios about all. If you have any more information or if this has helped you at all please email me back and I can give you further info on the Mossemann family

Denise

I too am looking for a Frei from Manheim, Germany. The person I am looking for is Horst Frei...Born/raised in Hirschberg, Germany...Lived in Manheim for some time...also lived in Neumunster, Germany for a while. Last known he lived at Russelkafer (tuberculosis) Sanitorium in Jesteberg, Germany. This was in the late 1960's....and yes he would have a son older than you...Manfred Frei. I realize I am responding to a rather dated inquiry on rootsweb, but let me know if this helps or if you have already found your answer..or if your answer ties into mine.

Thanx
Heidi
xterramom@yahoo.com

I have a lineage of Freys from Germany, the Alsace, Lorraine Region. Martin Frey b. abt. 1785, and his wife Barbara nee?. Alot of Freys when they came to America, the name was misspelled and now there are lots of Free, Frey, Frei, Fry, Frye that may be related, but the connection is lost on the misspelling of the common name. If you come up with a Martin married to a Barbara please reply to this message.
