Philip Freitag and Philipina Arnold were from Wurttemberg, Germany. They immigrated to the United States and settled in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area. Of their children: Philip, Mary, Elizabeth & Christina were born in Pennsylvania. By 1854, their children, Henrietta and Henry W. were born in Illinois. By the time their youngest daughter, Matilda, was born in 1864, the family was living in Gasconade County, Missouri.
