Frelinghuysen, Frederick. 1753-1804. American statesman, lawyer, militia officer (Col.), b. Somerville, Somerset Co., N.J.
Saw action at Trenton, Princeton, and Monmouth; aide-de-camp to Brig. Gen. Philemon Dickinson; delegate to the Continental Congress, New Jersey, 1778-1779, 1782-1783; member, U.S. Senate, New Jersey, 1793-1796; brigadier general in Indian campaign of 1791; major general of militia in suppression of Whiskey Rebellion.
