Hi - I am not sure if this is still your email address or if you are still seeking information. It is coincidental that I was showing my daughter family information this evening and I have a picture of Bertina as a child and from about 10-15 years ago. Elizabeth Frenz is my gggrandmother, Edna being my Ggrandmother. I have more information and pictures.

Deb Odonnell

k1265 - Jacob's parents were Wilhelm "William" Frenz and Katherine Hess. Jacob married Wilhelmine Sophia Kummer. The family was not French (at least not that I ever found) as I saw you had posted in another post (you stated your mother said last name was originally LaFrenz). They were Germans, from the region of Nassau. In fact Wilhelm "William" was born in Neesbach, Nassau (although the region I think is called something else now), Germany (then Prussia). My husband and I visited the small village of Neesbach 2 years ago. Anyhow, Wilhelm "William" and his 2 brothers, 1 sister, and his parents all left Germany and ended up in St. Louis, MO.

To Mike Mourning - Yes, you have the right family! That "Jake" would be Jacob Gottlieb Frenz. I had been looking for your great-great-grandfather Charles! Last I found him was in 1860 census in St. Ferdinand, St. Louis County, MO. I could not locate him after that! I hope you still check these message boards - if so, please post on here to let me know! Thanks!

Kelly Kahlau

Barbara Johnson is my sister and is still living. We both have some information on the Frenz history. My father was Carl W. Frenz who had 3 sisters and one was Amanda.

Dottie, I'm sure you've since found information on Jacob Frenz and his family, since I see you posted your message in 2001, but I didn't see it till now...7 years later. I am distantly related to Jacob.

The parents of Jacob GOTTLIEB FRENZ were William (born Wilhelm) FRENZ & Katherine HESS. William's parents were William (born Wilhelm) FRENZ & Elizabeth (maiden name not yet known).

Besides William, William & Elizabeth had 3 other known children: Christoph (who married Wilhelmine BURCHHOLZ, and Anna Maria PICKEL-Kloss), Anna Elizabeth (who married John Philip MEHL), and Jacob (who married Henrietta FRIEDMEYER; she was also of St. Louis, but born in Hanover, Germany). Jacob FRENZ was my great-great-great-grandfather (and Jacob Gottlieb Frenz's uncle).

I don't know where (I'm assuming St. Louis area) or when William & Katherine died. What I do know is that William, his brothers Christoph & Jacob, and his sister Anna Elizabeth, were all born in Neesbach, in the region of Nassau, in Germany. I'm happy to say that I will be visiting Neesbach this upcoming February. It's a VERY small village/town, but I plan to take pictures of the area, since this is where our Frenz family came from.

Jacob Gottlieb Frenz's mother, Katherine HESS, was born in Beuerbach, which is also in the region of Nassau. Katherine & William married June 18, 1837 in St. Louis, MO. Besides Jacob Gottlieb, they had 7 other known children: Christiana, Charles, Catherine, Henry, Henrietta, William H., and Johanna.

Kelly

I was wondering if you ever found any information that you were looking for. My grandmother, Virginia L Circelli, had a cousin that she communicated with prior to her passing. From what I can see her cousin was working activly on the Frenz geneology from Cleveland, OH. From what I can tell her last letter came in 1999. My grandmother had alzhmeimer's and when she passed my mother was unable to contact her cousin, Barbara Johnson who's last known address was in Salamanca, NY. I have no idea if Barbara is still alive, but I was looking for the same information.

Susan,
Have you located where your Frenzes are from yet? I have ancestors that came on the Pennland six years earlier out of Antwerp. I was able to find a notice of their ship leaving in a newspaper article from the time which gave more detailed info. They were Luxembourgian & the town name "Rosslingen" sounds like a Luxembourgian name, as well. My Frenz ancestors were German, however. Parts of Luxembourg did become Germany & often Luxembourgers were identified as Germans. Hope this helps.

My gggrandfather Charles Frenz (Franz) was born in St. Charles, Mo (near St. Louis) in 1840. He had a brother Jake. My only information about Jake was from a great aunt who said that "Jake sold his farm the home place and moved to the state of Washington." Would this be a fit?
