Mr Nelson Diaz Frias,
I read your postings on Franscisco Frias Nieves. Although I am not related to Mr Frias, I am interested in seeing if you have completed your compilation of families genealogical history from the town of Arona. If you have, I would like to know where I can purchase the book. The reason I am interested is because I have been researching Nieves, Velez, Genera, Gonzales, Domiche, Caceres from my father's side of the family. I've been told that they are descendants of relatives (especially Nieves)from the Canary Islands. Needless to say,I have had difficulty establishing exactly where they came from since the people who could have provided me with relevant information to do my research are dead. Add to that, the fact that Nieves is not a name that appears in any of the anthropological publishings from your country as immigrating to Puerto Rico from the Canary Islands. Therefore, I am grabbing any information that might lead me to stumble onto the "missing link" in my family lineage to the Canary Islands or Spain.
I know that my great grandfather's name was Ramon Nieves y Rios (1859-1929). His death certificate shows that he knew his parents as Franscisco Nieves y Rios and Gregoria Rios. He only knew his paternal grandfather as Jose Antonio Nieves and did not know grandmother nor maternal grandparents. The 1910 and 1920 census reveals that he was born in Puerto Rico. His death certificate reads that his family were from Quebradilla, Puerto Rico.
Ramon Nieves married Juana Paula Velez Gonzalez(s).
Juana was the daughter of Genero Velez y Genera. Genero's father's name was Pedro Velez (or Perez, might have changed to Velez because there were too many Perez)and mother Concepcion (Concha?) Genera. Juana's mother was Marcelina Gonzalez y Domiche de Velez whose parents were Ramon Gonzalez and Rosario(a) Domiche y Caceres.
Any direction you can point me too would be helpful. If you have completed your work, I would like to buy it.
Thank You,
Osvaldo Nieves
