Hi Brenda,

My g g grandparents were Jacob Ashenfelter and Elizabeth Ann Fridley Ashenfelter, (she was Isaac's daughter). Jacob was a blacksmith in Philippi during the Civil War battle there. The 1850 Census has Elizabeth, Jaccob and family in Rockingham Co. Va. In the 1860 Census, Jacob and the kids are in Philippi without Elizabeth.

Do you know what happened to Elizabeth? How about when did Jacob die and where is he buried? Also what happened to their son Thomas J.?

I've been looking for information on them, but no one seems to know anything about them.
