Saw your message and thought it was so interesting. My mothers maiden name is Friederich. I believe her grandparents or great grandparents came from Moll(?), Germany in the mid 1800's to Illinois. The latter came and settled in s.e. Kansas. Unusual spelling of this name.

hI, Was the butcher shop on Clinton Ave. near Grove St.? I vaguely remember the name but I think it was Fredrichs. Husband and wife, sawdust on the floor and always ready to give out a slice of baloney to a kid...me. My grandmother shopped there.

Hi!
I am looking for information on my great grandfather's family. His name was Karl Heinrich Friedrich, he was born on or around Apirl 23, 1911 in Schwetzingen (I think)Germany. He was supposedly KIA on or around May 26, 1942 in Gorodzy (sp), Russia. His father's name was Martin Friedrich and his mother's name was Eva Regina Spries. He was married to Rosel Hohmann, she was born on November 15, 1917 (or 1912) in Michelsrombach, Germany. Her father's name was Emil Hohmann and mother Emma Stober (I believe).
I would greatly appreicate any information that anyone has.
I have a little more information on my Oma's side of the family, but with her death and my father's death, I really don't have all of the information that I would like to have.

Thanks!

I have Sophia Karrer in my tree. Born in Switzerland m. Joseph Frederick. Her sister Caroline Karrer m. Charles Fredericks the stained glass dealer in Detroit. Sophia's father is Peter Karrer b. abt. 1801, Switzerland m. Magdelena (Madeline) LeVere and immigrated with 15 children in 1848 to Detroit and quite a few of the kids moved to Port Huron, MI. Peter is my husbands GGG Grandfather on his mother's side. Sophia's brother, Benjamin Jospeh Karrer Sr. is his GG Grandfather. I have that branch of the tree mostly. Let's compare notes!

Frierdich / Friedrich - Germany/MO/IL

Looking for relatives of the above - the furtherst back I have is a John Adam Frierdich m to Anna Maria (no dates but must be early 1700's) with one child listed - Heinrich (Henrich) b 2-06-1753 m to Barbara Shellhorn and my line goes thru one of their children, Matthew. Other siblings were: John, Catherine Barbara, John Adam, Peter, Catherine, and Barbe - all born in the late 1700's. From what I have- they originated in Deidersheim, Germany and migrated to the Waterloo/Columbia IL area. Would love to tie up some loose ends and find more info on this line. Our website is: http://www.frierdich-staley-familytree.com

I'm not sure if it would be him - but I'm hoping - I don't have any other info on this as its the last in my ancestor list - don't even have any dates for this listing - all I have is that a John Adam Frierdich was m. to Anna Maria (sounsd like an Adam and Eve story eh?) and they had a son named Heinrich born in 1753 - which would make the Johann Adam listed for 1710 - maybe a little young. The listing says he would have to be at least 21 to be listed...and if Heinrich wasn't born till 1753, well that would make Johann Adam at least 73 years old at his birth.....I'm also having difficulty matching any FrieRdich's with the more common listings of FrieDrich ... sigh....but onward and upward .... still checking :-)

If this is one of your ancestors, this may have been a Military Post where Johann is listed as being at, since the information seems to say that the men were only there for awhile.
Do you know of him living elsewhere during this time period?
Joyce

Her father was a Charles Peter Friederichs Jr., who was born in Detroit circa 1860s and married a Helen Boff. His father was Charles Peter Friederichs Sr., who was born in Germany but immigrated to Detroit and was married to a Sophie Karrer (perhaps born in Switzerland). Both Charles Friederichs were makers of Stained glass for churches. The Friederichs family operated Friederichs & Staffin Stained Glass in Detroit, which later became Detroit Stained Glass Works.

I have been searching for information about my great-grandparents who immigrated to the United States from Germany. His name was Karl Friederich and her maiden name was Anna Posz or Posa. They resided in Newark, New Jersey for a time and had two daughters. The oldest was named Elsie who later married Alfred Sidney Gooch from Canada. information

Anton Friederich was born in 1866 (it was the Grandfather of Jean-Pierre Friederich-my Father) and he immigrated to the United States from Luxembourg (Europe) with his wife Katharina Sens and his first son Franz. The second son Jan was born in the US. After a couple of years he went back to Europe. Does anybody has a trace of them, where they lived in America ??

If so all the Friedrichs of my family settled in the Newark-Irvington area which I believe both are in Essex Co.
I have a small book of Friederich genealogy, compiled by John E. Richardson, Cincinnati, 1930. It lists many descendants and I would like to share with anyone interested. I would like to know also where Dittelsheim, Rhein Hessen, Germany and Hillesheim, Rhein Hessen, Germany, are. Katherina and Peter settled in New Madison, Ohio when coming to this country with eight daughters and one son. The year was 1842. Thank you , Cherie Stewart
