Social Security Death Index has Frederick Friedman b. 10 MAR 1899 d. APR 1975. I trust the SSDI more than census because neighbors or relatives could have given the info to census enumerator which gives the burden of human error. I have found errors in SSDI, but more prevalent in census.

Joseph, Mary Friedman From Hungary, Ondod or Pusztavam

Found immigration records of Jozsef Friedman, 1, Maria Friedman, 5, Jozsefne Friedman (Mrs Joseph Friedman), 30. Found this family in the 1910 Oregon County, Missouri census, plus father Joseph and son Stephen, b. about 1908. The ships manifest lists them as coming from Pusztavom, Hungary. The dates line up with my grandfather's brother who was born 24 Feb 1877 in Pusztavam (or Ondod), Hungary. I cannot find any other records of this family. I heard rumors that grandfather visited his brother at least once after they came to the US. They were married, probably about 1900 in Hungary. The manifest lists the family as traveling to Joseph Friedman of Passaic, New Jersey. Looking for further information on this family. Oh, and the manifest said Jozsef Jr. was born in the US, so might have been born near the July 10, 1906 arrival.

Kathleen,
My Teresa Friedman married a man from Alabama. However she was born in 1861 in Philadelphia. Her first husband died and she remarried. The husbands' names were Anthony King and Lewis Joseph Salomon (or something close to this).
Sounds like it isn't a match.
Jody
I am not sure if there is a connection but my Friedman family is traced back to Jacov and Sara Friedman. He immigrated from Kirove-Ozera to Palestine. His children were Devora, Charles, Max, Maurice and 2 other sons. Devora remained in Israel. Maurice went to France, married and died by the Nazi's. Charles and one brother went to Australia and Max (my grandfather) and one other brother came to the US. Sara died in Israel and Jacov remarried. I don't know to whom. Any connections? SFBarson@comcast.net

Tracing Barry & Joseph Friedman b.1940's? UK

Hi, my neighbour, Joan Freedman is trying to trace her 2 sons, Barry & Joseph Friedman (or Benjemin - maiden name?)
The family were buried in their Bristol home after a bombing raid during the second world war. Joan was hospitalised and her sons were rehomed. All contact with her sons was lost and she has no trace of them since.

The family originated from Walsall / Birminhgham in the UK. Joan's maiden name was Benjemin (unsure of spelling) her husband was Joseph. Again, all contact lost with Joseph senior during the war.

The two boys were approx 9 months and 2 years old when they were taken away. Joan is unsure whom or which organisation was responsible so has no clue where they were rehomed. Sory, that's an appalling term, but i can't think of a suitable alternative.

So, Barry and Joseph will be approx 65 - 70 years old now.

Any help or pointers for suitable agencies to asist wirth the search would be most welcome.

Thanks for reading this.

Vernon Hall

Adolph Friedman

Adolph Friedman was my grandfather. We never knew him because he deserted my grandmother shortly after my father was born. Sophie (Lupcher)Friedman was my grandmother and raised my father in parts of Brooklyn. She arrived in the United States in 1912. My father was born in 1917. The 1920 census lists my grandmother as the head of the household implying that Adolph left between my father's birth and 1920. Sophie was born in Galicia, Poland in 1883. The only possible information about Adolph's whereabouts are from immediate family conversations. Sophie had Adolph arrested in Cleveland, but no one can confirm it.

I am interested in the Friedman family. My husband's grgrandmother was Teresa Friedman, b est 1862 in Georgia. I just recently finally found a marriage between his grandfather, George Byron Carpenter and Teresa Callaghan, a widow, in 1884 in Mt. Vernon, Alabama. However, their children were born in Baltimore MD and the baptismal certificates say the maiden name is Friedman. This is also true of their children's application for social security. I am interested in anything you might have since my Teresa was also Roman Catholic and because her death certificate indicates that she was born in Georgia. Have you discovered any other clues since you posted last?

I am searching for a Theresa (or Teresa) Friedman who either was born in Georgia or lived in Georgia in about 1862. She married a Callaghan who died and then remarried a George Byron Carpenter who was stationed at Mt Vernon, Alabama. The second marriage was in 1884.

This is a very old message but hope to find you. My husband's great grandmother was Teresa Friedman. She would have been born abut 1862, I believe in Georgia. She married George Carpenter who was a soldier. Is there any possibility that Max Friedman lived in Georgia or Alabama at any time?

FRIEDMAN / FREEDMAN in Russia (now Lithuania)

A wonderful fellow researcher has just been able to determine that my Russian-Jewish family of FRIEDMAN/FREEDMAN was from the area of Serey/Sereje, Russia (now Seirijai, Lithuania). Isaac DRATSCH (born about 1884; Isac Drash on his death certificate), son of Jacob and Sarah, married Ester FRIEDMAN/FREEDMAN (born about 1854), daughter of Israel and Annie. They immigrated to NYC in 1884 and 1887. They had 10 children -- at least 2 were born in Serey. Anyone have any information on these families? Thanks so much.

I have had such a hard time finding any additional information and have been trying to find other members of the family. I know George had two children.

I had an uncle named Adolf Friedman who was born in Brooklyn, NY about 1895. I have very little information about him except that his parents were Bertha and Morris. His siblings were Otto, Rosie, Samuel, Frank and Pearl. There might have been others. If you think this fits, please contact me. Thanks.

Marcia Hoffman
