Death of Mrs. Davis

The death of Mrs. Angelica Davis took place Oct. 10, 1913, at the home of her brother, Simon Fritcher, at Pilot Mound, Iowa. The remains were brought to this place, and the funeral took place Sunday, Oct. 12, from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor.

Angelica Fritcher was born near Canandaigua, New York, February 14, 1821, where she grew to womanhood. Jan. 4, 1840, she was married to Chas. Petrie, who died Oct. 6, 1847. One child was born to this union which died in infancy. Nov. 6, 1850, her second marriage took place to Daniel Davis, who died May 23, 1888.

Seven children were born to this union, five of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. Jay Smith, Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. Wm. Towne, Carson Iowa; Chas. P. and John F. of Woodbine, and Wm. H., of Dunlap. Henry J. and Mrs.Irvin Bronson are deceased.

In 1854 Mr. and Mrs. Davis removed to Clinton county, Iowa, where they resided until 1871, when they moved to Dunlap, remaining in the village one year. They then moved to a farm south of town, and remained in this vicinity until the family was broken up by the death of the husband. For several years Mrs. Davis had made her home with her children.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Methodist church, joining early in life and ever remaining a faithful member, though in her last years she was deprived of attendance to church on account of her feeble condition. She was a woman of character, and in her notive years was a useful member of society.

I question whether Simon was her brother or cousin. Any information about this lady would be greatly appreciated.
