William Wilson Fritz, Lancaster PA

I'm looking for any information on my maternal Grandparents Dorothy Winifred Houser born approx 1917 in Dauphin PA, married William Wilson Fritz born 1916 Lancaster PA in 1937 in Maryland.
Dorothy and William had two children William Wilson born 1937 and Donna Marie born 1941. Dorothy left the children with a Mrs. Lane and a Mr. Makai in 1942, they lived there until approximately 1948 when the children were place in Little Flower Orphange, Wading River NY. At that time Dorothy stated that William was serving jail time for robbery, and was residing with Herbert Wentz also of PA in a common law relationship. Both children were eventually placed in Foster care in New York.

From my research I believe (mainly by dates) that Dorothy's parents were Ralph Ellisworth Houser and Bertha Lewis of Dauphin PA I have additional information on that lineage but nothing on William Fritz. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The William Fritz that I served with had to
have been born either in 1936 or 1937 and I
would guess the latter; he either was from
Michigan or Ohio. I have a flight photo and
I can crop out his picture and send it to
you but that is the only way you could be
sure. Apparently, your father has passed
away, that is a shame as we have lost so many
members.

I have a Frank Fritz, born 1849, who is also a mystery, in my NY Fritz family. He was born in Baden and immigrated 1851 with his entire family to NYC. As he was barely 1 year when he arrived in NYC I could imagine his getting the immigration year wrong as well as any bigamist probably isn't too concerned with facts? If you are interested in pursuing this please reply to my e-mail address of davelee3 at mwt.net. Also If you have made any progress in your investigation I would appreciate your sharing? Thank you.
Lee
I've been searching for information on my Fritz line. My great grandfather was Johann Georg Fritz (also known as John George Fritz). He was born on 26-Nov.1859 in Schafhof, Welzheim, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemberg. He emmigrated to the US, but I don't know when. He married Lena Meyers in 1892.

The best that I can find is that his parents were Johann Georg Fritz, (born 30-Aug.1825, died 19-Jul.1904) and Eva Sameth (born 25-Mar.1829, died 4-Nov.1869). They both came from Welzheim, Jagstkreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany.

I found this information on Family Search.org, but have not been able to find any verification on it.

I was hoping to find out if my great-grandfather had any siblings, or other family that may have emmigrated as well.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light!

I too believe that John Peter Fretz's son, Christian Wilhelm, is not the same man who settled in Somerset County after the Revolutionary War ended.

There is some indication that the Christian Wilhelm Fritz of Somerset County may have been born to either Johannes Jurg or Johannes Martin Fritz of New Hanover, Montgomery County. At the very least, there is record of a man of the same name with a brother Valentin, and children with the same names as his, who lived there for a period of time predating Christian Wilhelm Fritz's arrival in Somerset County.

In Germany it is most often used as a first name. It is a shortened form of Fredrick, similar to our use of "Fred".
One of Prussia's most famous rulers, Fredrick the Great, is known as "The Old Fritz" in Germany.

Do you have any information on John Fritz, wife Mary Ruth? I have some sketchy information that they may have originally been from Pennsylvania, but may have migrated from Virginia abt 1790 - 1800.
Thank you
Julianne Fritz

That is my friend's mother. The Isley, is my friend's husband Mike, not her mother's husband, who is in fact, Franklin Deane Webster.

Hope that helps.
